Apparently the president of Britain's Formula One Racing, Max Mosely, has a penchant for a bit of S/M roleplay!!
And, if I interpreted my reading interpreted correctly, he likes to switch, too.

Now, I can understand the sensitivity  regarding Hitler and the concentration camps regarding the public at large and what type of organizations one might support in their daily life.  However, when it comes to bedroom antics, where one would "presume" they are in private and also in "fantasy land," I don't think the general public has the right to govern our careers based on our sexual antics.  As long as we aren't raping and pillaging in a non-concentual manner.

I remember the first lesson my mentor ever taught me....NEVER...EVER...NEVER..."out" anyone.  Anonymity was the #1` rule.  When the community (BDSM) was smaller it was easier to police those among us whose lifestyle ethics were amiss.  But now adays, I read so many posts, articles, and have even fallen victim, myself, to being "outed" for someone elese's agenda of personal gain.

You can bet, however, that the women involved will now have a rapidly dwindling list of clientele.

I think the Nazi stuff is more offensive than the bedroom antics.  Especially in regards to his history, and the fact he's cheating on his wife.  I, personally, have no problem with his outing.  His decadence is disgusting

But it isn't HIS history.  It's his "parents" history.  There is no mention of his supporting any type of Nazi organization.
He was caught having sex with prostitutes and doing "sexual" S/M roleplay.
My mother was from the deep south and VERY prejudice.  So, does that mean if I took on a bdsm slave of color that I should be blamed for her misguided perceptions?  It very well could look similar to his situation.  Paying for the sins of your parents...as the saying goes.

Cheating on his wife is an entirely different subject.  And, although not an activity I would engage in, I don't judeg others for it.  And I certainly don't think loosing his career over his "personal" marital discourse is in order.  If so, most men in this country, and women too, would be losing their jobs.  It's a bit of an extreme, in my view.

Shawn1066 -> RE: Vee Haf Vays of Makink you tawk!! (4/5/2008 8:44:41 PM)

Nobody is free of their parents history, though.  That's not fair, but it's true.  The simple fact of adding this event with his Parent's history is...well...pretty damning in a lot of people's eyes.  I certainly don't want to be judged by my Mother's past transgressions...but I have been and I probably will again in the future.  But...even if you pretend his parents never existed, and you judge him on his own merits...it's still pretty damning.

He should be fire for engaging in illegal acts.  The totally unacceptable behavior, in regards to his personal life and in the mocking of millions of people long dead...  Well, that's just something he should be ashamed of.  Like I said, his decadence is disgusting.

Were they right in outing him?  No.  Were they wrong?  I don't think so either.  It's a messy affair.  Too grey and ugly for me to really say, honestly.

I'm not going to judge the guy. But people are twisted, and some of them get off on evil.

Just noticed this thread, having posted on the other one about this.  Like Mistress Venus, I bear no judgement on someone's style of play (sanity prevailing) but Max Mosley actually did stand for election as a fascist in his youth.  What his politics are now, I can't say.

Leatherist -> RE: Vee Haf Vays of Makink you tawk!! (4/9/2008 8:23:28 AM)

I just get a bit tired of hearing people whining about real life victims-when someone is just doing basically harmless role playing-using it as a theme.

If someone was trying to reperpetuate it for real-I would bother to object. I just see it as thin skinned hair spplitting otherwise.

RULE NUMBER ONE:  If you're in a role of considerable power (i.e. senator, spokesman, etc.) with a taste for the bizarre, don't record anything, not even for your private collection.

Or if you do, you'd better be damned sure that your PR team is going to be able to get you out of it.

RealityLicks -> RE: Vee Haf Vays of Makink you tawk!! (4/10/2008 3:14:01 AM)

Filming it was a silly idea but it cost him £2500 they say, so he wanted his money's worth I suppose.  Formula One has form in this area: the Mosley took over from was an officer in the French SS during the war.  German and Japanese companies like Toyota and BMW are keen to eradicate links with fascism and more and more races are going to be held in Arab and Eastern countries.

The other thing is, he only gets paid expenses because he is independently wealthy, so its not his livelihood on the line.

MistressVnus -> RE: Vee Haf Vays of Makink you tawk!! (4/10/2008 6:41:46 AM)

I'm not sure if "he" is the one who filmed it.  I am inclined to think someone had a cell phone with mpg capability.  I'm more inclined to think it was filmed w/o his permission.  Some type of set up.  But, not sure.

However, I'm with you Leatherist.  It was bedroom role-play for crying out loud.  He wasn't out promoting fachism as a political statement.  Heck, the scene even sounded pretty hot to me!!  And besides, he even switched and played the part of a captive.  That makes a statement, in and of itself.  Not making a political statement...just role play!!

RealityLicks -> RE: Vee Haf Vays of Makink you tawk!! (5/19/2008 1:18:38 AM)

Interesting development in this story - it turns out that the Domme who set the scene up was married to  <drumroll>  ... an MI5 agent![sm=insane.gif]

That guy has since had to resign his job because he hadn't made clear the kind of work his wife was involved in, so is now considered a security risk. [sm=hardlimit.gif]

Anyway, I agree that Mosley was probably set up but I doubt that MI5 would have been involved.  Then again, who knows?  This one just gets weirder and weirder.

Role play does not connotate real world ideals and I truly wish that people would get that.  Plenty of people engage in role play with uniforms and torture which in no way legitimizes the real acts of torture in the world.  Those that engage in play with Nazi themes are not suggesting that they condone what happened historically, just as women seeking rape play are not condoning rape, nor do we want the actual experience.

If you were suggesting that I was one of those people, you'd be wrong, as my earlier posts state.  With Mosley's history, however (Hitler was a guest at his parents' wedding, his father was the best-known English fascist and he himself has stood as a fascist candidate for public office) and given the sensitivity of his job, its naive to expect people to ignore it.

RealityLicks, I was just using fast reply.  It wasn't really directed at anyone in particular... just the world in general.  And yes, people in political office, especially if they have a strange family history, should be careful what they do.  It tends to get out, no matter how little record you think you left.

An update on the story: Mosley to remain FIA president despite sex scandal.

Wheldrake -> RE: Vee Haf Vays of Makink you tawk!! (6/3/2008 12:18:03 PM)

Role-playing involving Nazis is still just role-playing, and comes closer to mocking or caricaturing real Nazism than to celebrating it in any case. I'd much prefer to live in a world where a public figure could openly indulge in such practices in his or her spare time, without anyone batting an eye - except perhaps in interest and appreciation.

I find the fact that Mosely was apparently cheating on his wife a bit harder to forgive, assuming he really was doing all this without her knowledge and approval. After all, not all couples operate on a basis of strict monogamy. But even if he was cheating, the matter should be resolved between him and his wife. It's not up to the public, or other people within the sport, to judge Mosely's private behaviour.

I'm very glad that he will remain FIA president at least for the time being, and I hope this is the end of the matter - although I strongly suspect it won't be, the human species being what it is. I've noticed, reading the news, that many commentators have pointed out that a top executive or politician in Mosely's position would have been forced to resign a long time ago. This strikes me as a fairly damning indictment of the puritanical standards that apply in the corporate and political worlds.
