Hell, I even like to give them a good once-over when I take them out.  Oh, and avoid going from anal to vaginal with the same toy... besides causing a nasty case of mud-flaps, it can also cause infection.  I tend to designate one dildo for anal penetration and the other for vaginal and avoid crossing the two.

"Nasty case of mud-flaps".... Quite possibly the most hilarious term I have read on here yet.. I love it!

One thing I have to add to all the posts on here... For me personally I find the material some toys are made of just causes some irritation which leads to a UTI... Case in point, I bought a vibrator made out of the silicone type material which just happened to be scented. I wasn't aware of this until I got it home and examined the box more closely ( I saw a giant purple ribbed thing with two vibrators in it and fell in love) anyway, I had to give it up because whatever was in it that made it scented caused issues :(

ALWAYS use clean and sterile toys
condoms make this easier and safer
sometimes UTIs happen more readily for women who ejaculate.
urination before and after play
makes this problem void

As someone else mentioned it's how you use them that is going to cause the honeymoon effect, hard rough and lots of times in a short period is the problem.

Peeing straight away afterwards even after just having sex will help to prevent a uti, flushes the system out.

Clean all toys with soap and hot water, after use, will help to prevent a uti.

Drinking cranberry juice will only help once you have a uti.

Don't use the same toy on different people.

and again never transfer from anus to vagina, that applies to toys, fingers and the penis.

There is no need to be anal about it and go over the top, I've never had a uti from toys.
