I used a laminated hoop I bought at Hobby Lobby that I saw while looking for something else. I used magnets to keep mine shut but it's more of a novelty than anything else. I'd like to see yours when you have it finished.

If your master enjoys nice collars on you, have him check out my profile. Im also a saddle maker as well as lifestyle leather maker. The reason that matters is allot of horse gear is made with no metal. All rings, buckleing methods etc is made from braided leather. That said Im sure I can work out a design you are both very proud of and one you can wear for many years to come.
