50 ft of fence, 6 12 in lattice polls, a HUGE [looks commercial] furnace in basement.

suppose i want to sell these items.  what price is fair and where to sell? or maybe it isnt worth the bother?

Status: offline 		Well you aren't going to get what Ace Hardware wants for it.
As far as the furnace goes you will most likely have to rip it apart to sell it.
My father was deep into recycling the last years of his life. 

You get whatever scrap is going for today, or tomorrow.

Status: offline 		Uhh if its fencing (that crossed wire stuff) most scrap yards wont pay for it  some even wont take it. As far as furnace its probably sheet iron so thats about 220$(Buffalo NY) for a net tonne (2000 lbs)
Erie PA has some kick ass scrap prices.

that is helpful.   one of the possibilties is to use some of it to build a water fall.  line with wire mesh-insert rocks, fill in with colored cement.  water features are big right now. i thought i would ask since some person got in my face over rocks that fell from a mountain.  he implied they were priceless.  anyhow i will get my rocks from elsewhere. fresh rockslides are good as the rocks havent settled in and are easiier to pluck.   my yard this year- sorta funny. i seen the next door neighbors get out of their car- they were gawking like my yard was a [nice] trainwreck.   i make it up as i go. im not even sure what will grow. today i bought 2 feet of potting soil. i hate paying for soil!   yet- if i can get things growing it IS alot cheaper then buying big plants.

i say i wont spend money then i do. [on yard]

they want $50 and up for a wheel barrel.  hmm.  guess that is a luxury, tho i spent more then that already.

local junk yards are quirky.  last 2 cars i junked they required the car to drive itself in.
so the recent car to dispose of- i gave away on freecycle.

Status: offline 		Scrap metal is at a premium right now - we have gangs over here, stripping the leading from buildings, the power cables from the railway, even the drain and manhole covers from the street.

Status: offline 		A good junk yard will pay.  Although you may still have to tear it apart.  Like I said my father was big into it before he passed.  He used to buy junk air conditioners...rip them apart.  He literally made thousands a week scraping it.

All the while he was retired so it was a nice little side living for him.

No kidding.... strange. Any modern car, people will pay to pick up around here... figure $70 for the catalytic converter, $200/ton for the shell, aluminum transmission/heads/engine are at least $0.10/lb, more if you can get them down to bare AL, at least $0.40/lb for the radiator, i think the electric motors are $0.40/lb, $0.80/lb for the wiring harness... lots of money in a car, even before you get down to selling individual parts.

Hard to say on the furnace... i assume it's mostly cast iron, which is hard to justify the hassle, but if it's old it may have a fair amount of brass or copper on it... i've also heard of old commercial furnaces having Rhodium in the controllers, (Rhodium is several times the value of Platinum), but i'm not sure how you identify it...

catalytic converters are going for around 200 a shot now.  Considering its about 5 minutes to remove from the car, not bad.
