Every rope course and book I've ever learned from has been very adamant about rope around the neck.

And yet many more experienced rope riggers just looooove to do a military hog-tie (with rope around the neck, yes). Dangerous? Yes. Would I teach it in my bondage 101 workshops? No, but i might to people who I know to be experienced and careful riggers. Would I be adamant about in a workshop: Sure: don't try this until you both know very very well what you're doing.

I tried to get a good look at the knot and couldn't.  For all I know that knot could have been a binding slip knot.  I don't know the proper name for it.  It will come undone under load with good tug.  I use it all the time when tieing fenders on sailboats.   My point is there are a couple of knots that that can be undone quickly under load.

I think the Hollywood Stunt professionals are at greater risk.  Actually the idiots on Jackass are doing things far more dangerous that kids, teens and adults watch on TV.  There are far greater things people do that either disturb me or are more dangerous in reality.

Sites like these aren't what you'd see in a club, there's many people involved in every shoot, and safety is paramount, regardless of what you see in the photoshoot.

I'd bet you a dollar that noose isn't attached to anything sturdy at the top. Hell, someone might just be up  on a ladder holding it.

I'm doing a noose scene coming up actually. Since I'll be in ballet shoes, and standing on something else that's not considered sturdy by any means, the photographer has decided to use an additional  harness around my chest, and then it will be edited out later, because we are only doing still images, not film. There will also be a people just out side of the shot, who can catch me if I lose my balance and fall like a retard.

On the other hand, do people do it privately? Hells yes. Is it dangerous? Yes. So is driving a motorcycle,  sky diving, and shit tons of other things. Sometimes a little danger is exactly what someone needs to make them happiest.  No one leads a truely safe, sterile life. One person's wtf factor could  be the next guys favorite activity. :D

I would think the same thing about this shoot, always have about this type of thing.  The I heard a story about a fetish shoot.  Long story short goes like this.  Male sub gets strung up by his heels from a wooden spreader bar by suspension cuffs.  Someone in the shoot decides to put his genitals in a noose type rigging from the suspension point.  Wooden spreader bar fails, sub falls, genitals didn't.

Apparently his wife didn't know about his lifestyle before that happened.

OP: OK chicken little just calm down. Are you sure you are in the right place or have you just wanteded in to the wrong place, the vanilla stuff is down the hall and on the left.

Dude... thats tame! personaly I don't see why someone would even bother putting that for public consumption, the scene is tame and pedestrian, it is not very well nor imaginativly shot and as others have mentioned, you will not see any safety procautions in a shot unless it is a site doing a 'how to' with safety tips.

it doesnt worry me in the slightest, why should it worry anyone who isnt trying it? i mean i adore being choked, but im sure anyone with any real common sense would know hanging by a noose tied to something that WONT give way is just nuts..therefore if they wanna carry out something like that then at the end of the day they will do it whether they see the danger or not.

No it doesn't bother me, upset me or concern me.
It is extremely tame visuals for one.  People are doing far more risky things out there.  I personally believe you are making a mountin out of grain of sand.  You could faint crossing the road and get killed, let alone fainting with your neck tied and if you are not even aware of that possibility, maybe you should not be practising any BDSM activities, let alone non BDSM ones.

I found those pictures to be hot.  Too bad she wasn't on her tippy tippy toes. Then it would have been even hotter.

Safe? You're all worried about a rope loosely wrapped around her neck, when one scrolls down and see that poor girl with her tits tied up so tightly they are purple? That scared me worse! I have mammary cysts, my mother died from breast cancer....that girl is a prime candidate for losing her breasts. Well, at least in my eyes.....

Huh?
Didn't say there was anything immoral or wrong about it, it just looks particularly unsafe from an accident point of view. If she fainted she could choke or injure her neck. Yeah, there's people around, just seems an awful risk is all. Every rope course and book I've ever learned from has been very adamant about rope around the neck.

So don't put ropes around your neck and don't let other people do it for you.

Please note that you don't see the rope tied to a beam. I'm betting there's either a person holding the top of the rope loosely or the rope is tied to a thread which is tied around the beam. In either case, if she slips the rope pulls out of the person's hand or the thread breaks. That's how you do a safe mind fuck of this.

She could break an ankle falling in those heels though.

It really just looked like a posed photo shoot to me, but it is not something I personally would ever do.(Yeah I thought the pic was kind of hawt too even tho breath play is not something I'm even remotely into) As to worrying? Only if I knew someone saw that photo and tried to replicate it without knowing the first thing about knots or safety. Adelphus I think this really struck a chord inside of you, and you reacted to that.

Breaking an ankle is much scarier!  People get freaked out by the strangest things.  Best thing to do if it doesnt seem like something for you is, dont do it.
LOL I cant even imagine what people might say about pics with knife play.

Does this worry anyone else? I thought this sort of thing was ultra dangerous.

No.
I'm sure people do tons worse than this on a daily basis, as far as pissing off the safety police.
But it worked on you!

Auto-erotic Asphyxia is nothing new. Neither is the Hanging Fetish or Dilemma Bondage.  Both are dangerous, has caused death in the past, but that is not going to stop the next person from doing it. If you do a search on the News Sites you will find reports of it, and on the talk shows. Hanging has been a fetish for a certain portion of the population for years. That is not going to change just like choking and breath play is going to remain a part of some peoples repertoire. People from Puberty on up to Seniors paractice it.

Many adult sites are dedicated to it. Usenet groups are filled with the pictures and some ARE staged while others are not. Usually, there is someone right there knife ready for the fast cut down. Often the knots are not slip knots and no more pressure is placed on the neck than what a Trapeze artist doing a neck spin endures, in fact often it is far less as the person in the picture is not spinning around 20 feet above the ground by their neck adding centrifical force to the neck insult http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6Ze6Z122x4 . Conversely some of the staged pictures use harness's just like Hollywood does. One fascinating hanging scene was done by Sigorney Weaver in Copycat http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112722/ and there are many others out there that continue to fuel this fetish. My ex was heavily into this fetish.

So it is ok for you to show concern on a kink, but it's lambasting if people say their perception is different? Interesting.

The photographs that concerns you so much have numerous concerns that could cause damage.  You chose to single out the one thing that causes shock value.  It is no one elses concern what other people find hot or interesting.  You are pandering to the shock police and promoting a nanny culture.

Lets look at your photograph.  You are walking barefoot in sand - with the markings in the background one would assume it is a beach.  In another, you are walking through reeds and long grass.  In both - Are you aware how dangerous that can be?  Do you know the risks and if not, whynot?  Are you promoting a possibly dangerous activity?
Think about it.

This is Darcy

It's nice to see that you are concerned, but really there is nothing to get your knickers in a twist about. The scene is clearly staged, the model has her feet on the floor, the noose isn't actually that tight, and to my eyes there is little to no danger in this scenario.

What does concern me is the quality and composition of the images. As a photographer myself I'd be frankly embarrassed to display such poor work. There is little to no imagination in the shots, and they do not do the model any favours.

Now if she were posing for Darcy&thedark then we might give you something to fret* over......

*or any other action of your choice

i have done predicament bondage with a noose around my neck. It was not breath play - the noose was tight enough to feel it, tight enough to feel it when i tried to move, ect, but was not obstructing my breathing at all. (not that i am saying don't do breath play, just describing personal experience here). i was standing on my tiptoes in an open closet ( a closet with no door, in a motel room). The Dom in question was lying on the hotel bed watching TV, with a good view of me. i had a good view of myself in a mirror :).
He tested the closet bar before he tied me - not to make sure it was strong enough to hold me, as he would have done for suspension or, really, most bondage. To make sure it wasn't. It gave with the slightest amount of weight pressure applied by him, and he put it back. He tied me with a knot very much like Sailing Bum described. If i had stumbled - even if i just had to put my foot forward and catch myself, and never really even fell - the result would have been one good whack across the back with the closet bar, probably not nearly as hard as i was hit at other times that weekend.

Lynnxz - you can stand in ballet slippers! Are you serious? How do you DO that? We have a pair, i love wearing them, but i would love to make Master's eyes fall out of his head by actually walking - even a few shaky baby steps - in them!
