Coincidentally, yesterday I happened upon a lecture given locally, by a man who's half Japanese, half Caucasian, and was brought up on both the U.S., and Japan. I think his book is called, JapanAmerica - something like that, - about the cross-cultural influences, especially the current upsurge of American fascination with Japanese culture and media, arts, fashion. There is a mutual fascination. For example, I see that in all of the album covers and music videos for one of the top rock bands in Japan, L'Arc~en~Ciel (French name, Japanese musicians), whenever they feature female models or actresses, they are Caucasian.
