drinking plenty of fluids and rest

Stay home from work and get over it, don't go to work sick.  Sleep, sleep, and more sleep.  I swear by tea with honey, honey seems to have "healing powers", at least for me.  And if doc prescribed antibiotics, take them all until they're gone, don't stop if you feel better.

Pneumonia can be viral, which pretty much runs its course but they usually give you antibiotics anyway to ward off any secondary infections.  Or, it can be bacterial, which is a little worse than viral, but you definitely need the antibiotics for that one.  Either way, stay home and sleep as much as you can.

Stay in bed. If you try to do anything while ill, it will get worse and may require hospitalization. The best thing here is bed rest.

~~FR~~

I agree with windchymes on this.  If you have viral pneumonia, antibiotics will not help you-- plenty of fluids to help flush your body and replace lost fluids and lots and lots of rest.  Also deep breathing excersizes are needed to help break loose the congestion that is in your lungs so you can cough it out.

Bacterial requires antibiotics but also the fluids, rest and breathing are all very important too.

There are no quick cures for pneumonia.

However, Chi and Green teas with lemon/honey will help. Also, take all the medications your Dr prescribes you exactly as directed.

Get all the rest you can, take hot bath/showers, and make sure you get mild exercise by walking.

Here are a few other ideas to help.

When in bed, remember to rotate your body. Sleeping on one side the entire night will cause the pneumonia to settle. Walking, turning, sitting up will help keep it broken up for you body to expell.

Tap on your lungs kind of like Tarzan. The light pounding will help keep the crude broken up.

Take those vitamins. B complex, C, and E especially.

While you're doing all that, I'll be sure to pray for a speedy recovery. After all, prayer can't hurt.

Hot tea, half a bottle of nyquil, and sleep the whole day.

:D

HI Kalista, a warm hug, Im on my third set  of antibiotics for walking pneumonia, so I empathise with  how you feel, the only way seems to be sleep, fluids,  bedrest(as much as you can stand), and of course any meds
Honey really helps its soothing and sweet and it does seem to help
Just look after yourself please, and I hope you feel better soon

Try some extract of elderberry to help boost your immune system.

What did your doctor tell you to do?  I'd take his or her advice over random responses from a bunch of people on a BDSM board.

Thank goodness for your boss. As everyone else said, rest! But also breathe as deeply as you can without bringing on a coughing attack. It will help to loosen the fluid in your lungs.

Feel better!!!!

I hope you're feeling better today.....why are you bummed beyond all belief?  You're sick!  You're contageous!  Your boss basically just gave his/her blessing to stay home and get better!   You go to work with pneumonia, and next thing you know, there's an epidemic in the workplace.

Please, just take the time your body needs to get better and stay in bed a day or two!

Daddyslilpookie -> RE: quick cures? (4/16/2008 9:05:56 AM)

rest, and lots of it.

Kalista07 -> RE: quick cures? (4/16/2008 10:25:38 AM)

Thanks all for Your support,
Kali

boil onions with a little bit of water to make an onion broth. If you can stand it, add some fresh garlic (nature's anti-biotic). Add 1 part honey, 1 part lemon juice (the real stuff), and dilute with water as needed. Drink it slowly as hot as you can stand it. In the mean time, get a vaporizor and eucalypstus (sp?) extract and breath in the mist for about 10 minutes 2-3 times a day. In the mean time, let the vapors run 24/7... get lost of rest. For some temp relief, you can use some vapor rub on your chest and neck. You can lay on your stomach, relax and take a GENTLE flogging to loosen things up in your lungs, or just have someone pat your back.

Take the meds the doctor gave you as perscribed... and pray you don't have a daughter who got this when she was 18 months old, and now have symptomatic asthma and is prone to this along with bronchotic and respitory infections! *sigh* Is it sad when i'm so used to dealing with this i don't get upset about it anymore?

ThundersCry -> RE: quick cures? (4/17/2008 3:56:56 PM)

I spent 4 months this winter with....*it*.

Funny, when I am sick the LAST thing I want to do is stay home and *rest*....I think that may have to do with being a little stubborn and or my MIND tells me I will only get sicker if I veg out and rest...anyways...

I paid the price...

Hope your recovery is speedy and....there are no set backs.

Like others have stated...listen to your dr`s...above all.

Daniel
