[8|] Collaring Ceremony Gifts??
We have been invited to a collaring ceremony in a few weeks time.  Is a gift for the couple appropriate; and if so what would be an appropriate gift be for such an event?

Toys.. gift certificates, almost anything one would take to a wedding as a gift

W/we went to a collaring of a couple we were very close with.  What we took as their gift was a set of hand made ceramic goblets done in black w/ a Dragon on one and a woman on the other.  The Dom's name at the time had Dragon in it.  The couple loved the goblets, they were really unique and different/  Most who attended brought gifts to the couple.  Mostly "decor" type things for their new house.

If you want to know, ask if they have ideas or if they've registered somewhere.

I always opt for a gift card. Visa or the like can be spent anywhere they want. For a couple that has lived together for a while, thats always easier than trying to guess what they might need or want.

I would say how well do you know the couple ? If you know them this question is easy to answer their likes , passions etc .Also depending on the budget .If your close to them perhaps a couples  spa day ?a nice bottle of wine ?line of credit at any of the bdsm supply stores or online outlets .If they are having  an after party bring the share food ,if your on a tight budget nix some cd's from your collection for a dungeon night ,make a kinky kake ,perhaps some reading material , or rare collectible media or trinket .Hitachi's are always a hit .The last two collaring s i attended i gave a swatting item , the other the Male Dom  was into edge /knife play as was the newly collared partner so a fantasy blade was gifted .

Go to McDonalds and get them a gift card. Ask them if they are receiving gifts. I have been to some bearing gifts and others not. How elaborate is the ceremony. I have been to ones in a Motel room and a big one in a park that was more like a wedding.

I have been to 8 collaring cermonies and each time I give them the same gifts.

A Leash (Leather and Nice not one of those Nylon Crap Ones)
Ankle Bells
$100.00 Gift Certificate to DomDepot so that the little things like D rings, Eyebolts, Chain, and Rope can be purchased.

In each situation I knew them pretty well and honestly the Leash is a Symbol that is respected if rarely used. The bells I have yet to find a girl who doesn't love them and the HomeDepot Gift Card is a Maintstay. I shop more at Home Depot then I do on kink shops.

I am still trying to figure out how to get Home Depot to stock Wartenberg Nural Wheels.... anyone think of a Valid reason the tool could be used in real everyday life??

Well, you can never have too many pairs of grape scissors.

Like others I tend to buy something appropriate, special to them or to their joining, and usually of a fairly token nature.

But as others have suggested, I'd discreetly ask the more approachable of the couple what 'the form' is.

They are handy when printing off multiple copies of a form with a tear-off coupon, to perforate the tear-line ....

Just about any material that needs to be cut perfectly straight...the little pins would leave a nice perfectly dotted line on wallboard, vinyl, flooring, wallpaper...

When we had a ceremony it was for a celebratory "re-collaring" and we did not want or expect gifts.  We got a few cute cards and a few gifts and I actually liked the plants the best.  We have many toys already and the plants are happy and growing and remind me of the friends who gave them to us.  Of course they knew I love new plants.  Even a book woulod be good - how to tie knots, something "vanilla" that could be left out but would be meaningful nonetheless.

Have a good time at the ceremony!

Anyone notice kinky people can only give kinky gifts to kinky people?  I really don't want a kinky gift unless I've specifically requested it.  Otherwise I'd much prefer movie gift cards, or a dvd, or a dinner out, a nice book, concert tickets, etc.
