This may be a totally weird question with no answers.. but does anyone have a way to relieve the serious soreness of my 'i think my period is about to start' boobies?

I hurts to wear a bra, I finally had to wear one yesterday and when I took it off oh dear god the pain was bad. If they move or shift I just want to scream.

It's been 4 months (since my last confession lol, jk) since my last period and I swear it feels like all the PMS has been building and lurking inside of meeeeeeeeeeee.

Please please please any suggestions?

Camille,

I hope you feel better soon honey. What works for me is a sports bra (the kind that flattens you down to nothing). I wore these when i was expecting our first um...i even slept in them.

Gerber make these really groovy "Breast Therapy" products for nursing moms, but this slave highly recommends them for anyone experiencing breast discomfort.  the ones this slave utilizes are a doughnut shaped gel pack, covered in a light cloth...anyhoo, they can go in the microwave or the freezer and they are FANTASTIC for easing the discomfort of swollen, painful, aching breasts.

here's a link to their product line:

Gerber Breast Products

after multiple trips to the doctor and biopsies that yield nothing over the course of 25 years, this slave manages the symptoms in various ways.  one way is by using the gel packs mentioned above, as there is no cure, only strategies to make oneself as comfortable as can be.

best of luck!!!

Oh beth thank you. I should be able to find those around here or at least something similiar!
Thankies miss holly, I'm so very glad this only happens a few times a year... until it is that time lol. [8|] The thought of squashing them when they feel this way is just too masochistic for me but I may have to try your suggestion.

i would choose Beths suggestion over mine, actually

Yes, the PMS has been building up all this time. That's why it's worse now. The prostaglandins build up on the uterine lining. You shed them once a month. But now you're shedding four months worth, four times as much. So four times as painful.

Anti-inflammatories, sports bra, ice or heat. Get a rice bag and see which feels better.

Celeste yanno I was actually joking about that.. jeez it is true?

So much for feeling happy about having my period only a few times a year. 'It' is lurking.

a mineral supplement that contains both calcium and magnesium sometimes helps...fish oil (if you can take that) has some pretty good anti-inflamatory properties.

May you can go see your OB/gyn and talk to them. Usually if it is a hormonal thing they can help you balance that out.

Have you cut out all caffeine yet?

I used to have quite excrutiating pain in mine ..... and I found lymph drainage massage  to be fantastic .... sorry I dont have time to find a site with directions

but basicaly massageing the breast gently  and slowly with the full length of your hand in a half circle  from the center of the chest over  the top of the breast  to the arm pit  and  then  from the center under to the arm pit ...    so not  over the nipple ... but basicaly around the breast .. moving from the inside curves to the outsides ....  do this very gently  but with a consistant pressure   for about 5 to 10 mins over a few days.
This will help the fluid to move through the lymph system, transporting out  all the chemicals/hormones that cause the swelling & pain

You can do it  as soon as you get any feelings of discomfort or indeed before, if you know when its going to start  which is what I now  do and  I dont get the discomfort any more
I teach alll my lovers how to do it .... *smiles* warm oil  and  warm helpfull hands just make it a delightful experience.... but I can do it for myself when necessary ... I prefer laying down   .... but you can do it standing, say  in the shower or any where its comfortable

hope you find relief

How much caffeine do you consume?  Too much caffeine can cause fibrous cysts in your breasts and they are very painful just before your period.  Your doctor can confirm this.

My doctor had me completely cut out caffeine for six months and take vitamin E every day.  It helped; my breasts are no where near as sore.

After awhile I could have caffeine again, but I can't have too much.

I drink one cup of coffee per day and that is the limit of my caffeine. They feel a teensy bit better today, I was able to sleep on my side. Jeez this just makes me want to start my period nowwwww please! Thanks everyone, it's nice to have a place to ask oddball questions.[:D]

Firstly, are you on medication that makes it 4 months between periods? Because if not you should see a doctor ASAP.
I was skipping lots of periods and it turned out I had too much Prolactin, it's a hormone that suppresses estrogen (hence no periods) but it also is what makes women start to produce milk after giving birth. You might be in pain because of your prolactin levels.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Bitchin' Boobies (4/18/2008 5:17:34 PM)

you might try one of the over-the-counter diuretics and see if they help. If you are retaining fluid and this is making your boobs sore, it should help.   Of course if you are on bp meds or diuretics already disregard this advice.

Have you tried a tank top with a built in shelf bra?  You can purchase several in different colors for $8-$12 each.  I use these about half the time and actual bras only when necessary for work or more formal dress occasions.

My pet peeve about breasts during PMS is bra seams across the nipples that cause itching!  And once that happens, having to rush off to the ladies' room to adjust everything.

Much love for spreading the knowledge [sm=hearts.gif]
As for the sore breast issue - have you tried frozen cabbage leaves? They're generally a pretty good size/shape and should help cool and soothe your twins - works a treat for Me [:)]
