Mercnbeth -> Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/10/2005 1:17:12 PM)

There are some things that if you don't know what you are doing - you shouldn't try. Here's a great case in point.

I wouldn't even say that this is a case where a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The only "knowledge" that's evident is that alcohol burns. DUH!

This could have been a complete disaster.

Hi beth,
For some reason it just took me to a dumpalink main page and I couldn't find the story you'd recmmended. Care to copy and paste it here so I can see what caused you such distress?
Sincerely,
sub suzanne

It's a video of some kids mixing fire breathing with fire on skin and using much to much alcohol. It is a cautionary tale.

At least they did have wet towels handy... I hope they were wet at least.

What bothered me most was the guy's "shit happens" shrug and smirk.

slvruncrn69 -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/10/2005 2:49:38 PM)

Definitely safety was not number one on anyones list. Fire, especially with an excellerant is not for amateurs! She is very lucky to keep her pretty face.

windchymes -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/10/2005 3:39:30 PM)

Holee crap!

Another testimonial as to why low intelligence and alcohol just don't play well together.

Sheesh

ModeratorEleven -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/10/2005 3:53:09 PM)

That wasn't exactly a scene gone bad, it was a segment for someone's "stupid human tricks" DVD. The "top" in that performance was Steve-o from the MTV show 'Jackass.'

Well, I have to say that I seen, and heard, of many BDSMers that could probably make that show. You know the type...the ones that go to "one" Demo, or hear about a singular experience, and then go home and try it for themselves, without training, or any specific knowledge on what they are doing. They think "seeing" it happen one time is enough to be an expert.

Geez. Playing with fire...IS playing with fire. (someday I may progress to fire play, but never until I learn all I can to be safe. I have more than a tremendous fear of fire, and yet still am drawn to it.)

What really bothers me is he evidently didn't even try that trick ONCE on an inanimate object or he would have known there was just too much alcohol. Some people shouldn't be allowed out without a keeper.

That was EXACTLY what I was about to come post, John! The smug little prick needs his ass kicked.

The OP is correct. that could have been a life altering mistake for the girl.

Of course, I cannot say for sure, but I imagine the excessive amount of alcohol was due to the desire to "make a really big impression" and to do something completely wild and over-the-top.

According to Mod11, the seg involves MTV's Jackass Host, and from what I understand his entire fame is based on being a dumbass and pulling stupid stunts. He has succeeded in outdoing himself here. What a dipshit.

I'll full support him in his quest to win the Darwin Award, but when others are involved he deserves a long stint in a small cell.... with Dwayne (you gotta cute ass) Bubbah. I'm sure he sold it to the young woman with a "you'll be famous baby, just look at how famous I am."

ModeratorEleven -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/10/2005 6:01:29 PM)

The young woman in the video deserves her fair share of the blame for this incident. She must have known Steve-o by deed or at least reputation. Everything he does is about hurting himself or someone else. Both of them are fools.

Interesting point... but its also like John said, he most likely played the "fame and fortune" card.... But youre right... she is a fool as well for not checking his credentials.

jabbyjaws12 -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/14/2005 6:24:13 PM)

OMG that was the funniest thing!!! It woulda been sweet if her hair got burned off and she had to walk around like an idiot and tell her parents that she went bald lettin some dude light her on fire. Ha

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/15/2005 12:19:44 AM)

No, actually it's not funny! I had something very similar happen to me, though not in scene, and through absolutely no fault of my own. It involved a severely drunk friend blowing Everclear flamethrowers at me when I walked out of a bathroom. Luckily a sober friend ran up with a towel and put my head and torso out before I could inhale much of the flame. I had third degree burns all over my face, down my neck and on my stomach, lost quite a bit of my hair, and DID have to go home and tell my parents what happened. It took years for the burns to heal, lots of hospital bills, is a painful memory, and was an even more painful event. That video is not a joke. It made me a more than a little sick to think how badly she could have been hurt. People die from those kinds of experiences, all it takes is a couple of seconds if they inhale the flames. They are indeed both idiots for trying something like that without proper experience, but I, personally don't think other peoples' serious pain is even remotely funny.

FLButtSlut -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/16/2005 8:37:26 PM)

Sometimes, snickering at the absolute stupidity of others is a knee jerk reaction. The guy on the bike who slams his "jewels" by doing something idiotic, or other such things.

I admit I snickered, went OMG, then thought "what stupid idiots would do such a thing?" in that order.

Always amazed at the ignorance of others.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/17/2005 3:44:18 PM)

True enough. Jabbyjaws could have put it in a less offensive context, though.

FLButtSlut -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/17/2005 6:36:59 PM)

You are right NOMC. It is one thing to chuckle at such stupidity, quite another to openly wish it were more tragic.

What is a bit on the frightening side is that jabbyjaws12 has fire play listed on his "special skills". I, for one, will pass.

LOL. That's probably a good idea. From an e-mail he sent me it seems he's a bit too immature to be playing with fire.

floorkitten -> RE: Visual Warning About Fire Play (10/19/2005 4:39:15 AM)

WOW....

Master and I just held a workshop this past weekend on "Safety and Fireplay".... this would have been a wonderful clip to have shared on WHAT NOT TO DO!!!
