it should be legal.
then the poly folks in texas would have more support to get their kids back. although that case is extreme. it shows what goverment can do if you do not comform to their way of thinking.

you might want to get your terms straight first...

there is polyamory and polygamy.. two different things.. feel free to do the research...

and then bigamy... something different...

as for the folks in Texas, its not about polygamy, its about abuse, again, do some research

Not to those who's kids are
forced to be married to an older ashole,
who would abuse them, those kids should be taken away and kept save, and have a normal childhood instead of getting abused in da name of their law.

Amen

polygamy [(puh-lig-uh-mee)]
The practice of having several wives or husbands at the same time.

------------------------

Main Entry:
polyamory
Definition:
participation in multiple and simultaneous loving or sexual relationships

------------------------------------------------
big·a·my

1.Law. the crime of marrying while one has a wife or husband still living, from whom no valid divorce has been effected.

------------------------

Dictionary.com is your friend.  Use it.

The case in TX is about  ABUSE.  It's about forcing young  children  to 'marry' older men, have sex with them, and presumably be expected to bear children to those men.
This case has NOTHING to do with consensual polamory.

*sighs*

How many times does this need to be pointed out to some people???

polygamy [(puh-lig-uh-mee)]
The practice of having several wives or husbands at the same time.

Every woman wants two men, one to cook and one to clean.

And the odds of polygamy becoming legal when the only publicly known cases involve coercing young teens to agreeing to nightly rape is slim and none.

Women with multiple husbands at the same time never quite make it to the Evening News do they???

Actually the act of having multiple husbands is called Polyandry and is less common that Polygamy.

Polyamory as we often explain it is NOT illegal.

Polygamy as it is Practiced in a Religious states is because one person is MARRIED to more than one person and that is illegal. However since it is illegal the marriage is null-in-void making only the initial marriage illegal.

It is all in how it is prosecuted and the defended in court.

I have been following the polygamy case in news articles. The one thing that catches my attention is that the headlines are always Polygamy this or that. Why not abuse or rape that is what the problem is. There are cases of abuse and rape of young girls in monogamous relationships as well there are forced marriages between young girls and older men in this country all the time. Why has the government not cracked down on these cases as well. What about the forced circumcision of young girls as part of an outdated ritual, that is abuse. It does not matter if there are one or four or more girls involved it is about abuse and atrocities not numbers. The focus on Polygamy gives an easy target for headlines and outrage, it also lets the other cases that do not get attention be slipped under the rug. The issue of abuse is easy it is wrong and should be stopped. There was an old joke that went if a man was mugged by a drug addict with a broom stick what would the government do? They would outlaw broom sticks.

Just noticed that one word was still missing in this already confusing mess of definitions.

polygyny:  the practice or condition of having more than one wife at one time.

Crime should be punished.. the difference here is crime is perpetrated on women (underage) systemically, under the guise of religion.
