I belive that getting inked is one of the most addicting things we can do.  I've never met anyone who's not at least thought about more after the first one-- even if they talk themselves out of it for the rest of their lives.

What do tattoos and BDSM have to do with eachother? Seems like quite a leap in deductive reasoning.

Be more subtle, ask her was other forms of body modifacations she's into after complimenting her tattoo.

Yes I agree here just because she has tattoos doesn't mean she is necessarily into BDSM. I know tons and tons of people with tattoos and not all of them are ionto BDSM.

I have no idea and I just assumed that if folks are into the pain of tatoos then maybe they are into spanking and other things.

Thats like assuming that if people are into cars, they are also into getting hit by them.[8|]

Lol T!  Anything exciting in Moosecrotch this morning? [:)]

I ask people about ink all the time.
Its a great ice breaker
and most people who have them love to talk about them.

Say something like:
"Nice ink,"
its that simple
Then ask if it means anything.
Lots of people carefully select what they get because it means something to them personally.
It gives me a bit of insight into their personalities
and really,
most people are somewhat flattered when someone notices something about them and takes the time to ask and really listen.
Of course there are times too when I have to think of the Vince Vaughn line from wedding crashers:
"Tattoo on the lower back? Might as well be a bullseye."

Since I'd love to have a tramp stamp, should I resemble that remark?

mhawk -> RE: Does asking about tatoos ever work? (4/22/2008 8:41:36 AM)

well seeing as i have about 12 tattoos to date i certainly do not mind people coming up an saying "nice ink" or  "intersting ink" i take it as a compliment. none of what i have, have any link into bdsm for me at all. i started getting them way before i understood what bdsm was.

so to ask about them,is in my mind a good thing.as far as what she is into well, that's up to her to reveal,i would never outright ask someone unless i knew them very well. outside of that, all of mine do have meaning to me from different times and places in my life, and well a couple just because i really like them.

Hissltora -> RE: Does asking about tatoos ever work? (4/22/2008 8:46:01 AM)

i've one tat piece at the moment, and it has nothing to do with BDSM, even though i was owned when it was done. My next piece has been approved by Sir and still has nothing to do with it, it will be for my kids.  i get the tats for the meaning, not for the pain. That just happens to be a happy side effect. For me, it doesn't hurt so much as it creates a very deep itching feeling.

My advice is along with the others: Do feel okay to ask about the tat...i recommend complimenting it, as it really gets them in a good mood. Do Not assume one leads to the other!

I love my ink!  It has nothing to do with my orientation, though.

Those of us who are pierced and tattooed freaks know that we are inviting conversation by our ornaments.  Go ahead and ask folks about their ink, but to figure they are into pain?  Long jump, there!  Also, just because someone IS into pain it doesn't mean they are into bdsm at all.

whats a tatoo???

ohhhhhhhh  you mean TATTOOS  (theres two t's!!!!!!)

OmegaG -> RE: Does asking about tatoos ever work? (4/22/2008 9:52:44 AM)

damn, now I'm going to have to go back and edit at least half of my posts, I'm sure.  (I am a much better orator then writer)

I was wondering when you'd show up-- not that you have any ink on your body or anything.

chellekitty -> RE: Does asking about tatoos ever work? (4/22/2008 9:57:45 AM)

i've sat there and watched a sadist with absolutely no masochistic tendencies get tattooed - because he wanted the art and the signifigance on his skin...i admired his restraint on not hitting the artist...lol...

now if they were to have an S or a K tattooed on the outside of their thigh, that might be a pretty good indicator...but not definate...my S on the outside of my thigh stands for submissive, slave, servant, slut...serves so many purposes...woohoo...btw, K would be the Gor version and from what i understand they are more likely to brand than tattoo...

My tattoos the way I talk about the one I got for my father... and the one I got for my mother (because No matter how much she will ALWAYS deny it, she was submissive to my dad) many people can make the jump for me, but then, I'm me and many. As for a tramp stamp being a bulleye. Kana, I dont get it, my lower back is no where near my mouth n.n

be careful about the tramp stamp.  i got a lovely round celtic knot there....then i lost about 40 or so pounds...now its more egg-shaped, according to Daddy.  still pretty, but not round.

I would love to get a tatto a small one of a tiger on my hip (what can i say i love tigers).  Master says Absoultly NOT.  He does not like body art.  So even though i would love to get one i will obey and not.  Actually i keep telling Master he would look great with an earring but he will not do that either.   I still love him though:)

LMAO  ok i'm sorry I had to hit onto this point here.

My gf, who is the MOST straight laced, un kinky, unimaginative when it comes to sex, person I know. I mean were talking doggy style is considered wierd in her view. Has a tattoo.

So NO, do not assume just cause someone has a tattoo they are into BDSM. Plus going by that logic, why would dominants have tattoos?

I get complimented and asked about the tattoo on my chest by people all the time. No one has ever thought anything other then the fact that it's very unique and nice.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Does asking about tatoos ever work? (4/22/2008 4:24:30 PM)

Most people who have tattoos and allow them to be exposed love and desire the attention.

As another said "just ask if there is any significance to it"

mypain56 -> RE: Does asking about tatoos ever work? (4/22/2008 5:28:16 PM)

hum, your question raises some red flags, believe it or not alot of people have tattoos but they aren't necessarily in our world. Although some people that live in our world are very discreet and having BDSM tattoos would out them to the public and family members. i my self have many a tattoo but only one BDSM design. And that is on my upper arm, and i really don't care what paople may make of it. Although it kind of resembles a ying/yang symbol. Now with that said i am very good friends with a famous tattooist, after akll the years of knowing each other he hadn't a clue i was in this world, surprise, surprise. Actually he was quite impressed. So we both came out to each other. By the way, he even has a new tattoo studio over seas in Blieses in the islands. Anyway you just never know, but try and be respectful to the person your asking questions too, just simply ask what the significance of there design work is. Just like tribal tattoo's they all tell a story. And Japenese kanji artwork they also tell a story as well. Just remember respect is key.....

Um...first of all-that doesn't make any sense. Secondly, if you're looking for a dominant woman, she wouldn't have to enjoy pain at all.

To me, I see no association between tattoos and kink. That makes as much sense as asking a woman who has had children if she's into BDSM -because having children hurts.

I doubt you'd ever get a yes, though if you're into face-slapping, it might be a good idea.
