I have a cousin that had her's removed, and I used to date a woman that her's removed too. They both had to watch eating greasy food. I remember that being an issue. My ex girlfriend couldn't hot dogs or anything with a lot of fat in it. It just tore her stomach up.

The side effects for me ..... errrr ....... i like to say when my gallbladder was removed they took my muffler as well!!!
My means of dealing with such an occurance ........ i waited until i was around my UM's ONLY, and had a flatulation contest!!!!

I didn't really have any side effects. Maybe a slight problem with cheesy foods like pizza to start out but that is not a problem (its been years) any more. I feel better than I did before I had the surgery, then I was REALLY SICK feelings a lot, just miserable.

I had it done the hard way, before laparoscopic, the only lasting problem I've had is that I was given a TENS unit to deal with post surgical pain and no one explained it really and I think I overused it and I had muscle loss due to that which has never been recovered from. I couldn't do a situp now if my life depended on it and I used to do them all the time. That sucks for sure, but I have found an alternate way to exercise.

Other than them missing a Gallstone, and almost killing me trying to remove said Gallstone. (long story) I seem to get heartburn more frequently than I did before.

Anyone who has surgery is told of the risks, benefits and possible complications. You are given an opportunity to ask questions before surgery and in followup. I'm curious as to why you're asking random people in a BDSM forum about gallbladders.

To answer your questions, I did not have my gallbladder surgically removed. I was apparently born without one. This was discovered at a hospital I used to work for. I used to volunteer to let the ultrasound students practice on me. They never could find my gallbladder and neither could the tech who was teaching them, so we asked the radiologist about it. He asked me some questions and determined that I just didn't have one. The main complaint is not tolerating heavy foods very well. Anything that is loaded with fat gives me stomach cramps and diarrhea. I treat myself with Imodium as needed which is about once a week. If you take 2 capsules before a heavy meal, it will usually prevent the problem.

I also had mine out when laparascopic surgery was just being used to do it, and my surgeon chose to do it the old-fashioned way. He said it was too acute.

For a year afterwards, I had more heartburn than before (well, I hardly EVER had heartburn before), I absolutely could not eat peanut butter, and I developed a sensitivity to dairy products (basically, lactose intolerance). All that resolved by the end of one year.

I just had mine removed a couple of weeks ago and so far, I've noticed that I have to be more watchful of the amount of fatty, greasy food I eat in any one meal. Otherwise, I am miserable for hours afterward. Small price to pay to get rid of the most God-awful pain I've ever experienced in my life.

I imagine side effects depend on the type of surgery. Laproscopic usually requires little recovery time and minimal scarring. I got lucky (not) and wound up with 27 stitches and 19 metal staples because I thought it was stress/divorce/pain and not something truly serious until it exploded inside me. Giant ew. I had been throwing up for nearly a year and had excruciating pain that I downplayed. The surgical area is numb still after almost 3 years and it took a very long time for the muscles to recover. The post surgical pain was much much more than I anticipated and I learned of something called post surgical depression which hit me pretty hard. Actually it hit really hard. I also ended up damaging my teeth pretty badly, the bile eroded much of the enamel and discolored my previously pearly whites leaving them super super sensitive to everything. Food wise I've had no issues, I can eat anything without problem but then I could do that beforehand. Some say there is a connection between high calcium levels (which I have) and stones be it kidney, gall bladder or saliva gland ones. Yes! There is such a thing as saliva gland stones which mimic TMJ.

Prelaporoscopy. Very small amounts of greasy foods and keep Imodium handy at all times. Very low tolerance for dairy and took about a year before I could tolerate wheat.

I had mine removed 5 years ago...at first, i couldn't eat anything healthy, the greasier the better! LOL...now, i have to munch all day and can't eat big meals or the food just runs through me. Imodium helps if it's a bad day, especially just after the surgery. Now, I just deal with it, I've had a zillion tests, no one can tell me what's wrong.

Good morning!
When I had mine taken out, I was already dying..just the pain coming and going so badly. I was so ready. Did not really have any side effects but found out ..and am still finding out years later that I cannot eat like I used to. Like before I could eat donuts and triple cheeseburgers and now I have to limit that. BBQ chips I canot have as many as I used to, instead of eating 2 McDonald's double cheeseburgers..I can only eat one..Things like that but yeah the brain forgets and orders and then -Whoa-heartburn. At 35 yup! ::nods:: Good luck! Personally I can deal with the heartburn-what kills me is the scars that the surgery left. 5 little slits that look so awful to me. Ah well.

I had mine removed laproscopically almost 8 years ago. It was packed full of stones. I haven't had any problems, or food issues. Lucky me, cuz I love fried foods!

Life without fried chicken would be just

awful.

i had mine out about exactly a year ago and mine was full of gallstones. i do still get sick if i eat certain things like greasy or cheesy or red meat and i still get some phantom pains sometimes but im sooooo happy they tookt he sucker out lol

Several of my family members have had thiers out. Quite a few have alot of stomach problems after. Stay away from fatty foods.

Mine was removed about 8 years ago. Large meals, greasy foods, and too much of high fiber foods-in particular, watermelon and peaches- have a seriously cleansing effect on my digestive system.
