just reading these posts makes me sore!  i've wanted to get mine done for a year or so but they are so sensitive on their own and i'm so terrified of needles that i honestly don't know if i could do it.  i don't have a high pain tolerance, but god, but i love the way nipple jewelry look.   i've tried the non peircing kinds of jewelry and they hurt way too much to leave on for more than a few seconds.  guess i'll keep reading about it and hope i can get the guts up to do it.

Christine, have someone you trust or love to go with you to distract you, talk about everything that comes into your mind. If you need to take some tynonal before hand. Have them keep talking to you, the pain really isnt that much and its over with in seconds. The having someone distract me from the shock of getting it done was what i needed to get them done. Also I dont suggest If you have a Dom/Potential Dom to take them along, It usually makes it worse. My first tattoo I got done with a potential partner, and I was so afraid of him being disapointed in me while I was getting it done that the pain was so Intense she had to stop at regular intervals. My second tattoo I went with the same friend as my nipples and I dont even remember getting it done because she helped me feel calm and distracted me enough from the pain.  Also Thats just my personal preference, alot of people enjoy their Partner with them espically if that partners a sadist.

Hi Ocilla!

1)  I don't work at any shop since moving here to Augusta.  All I've visited tend to fall into two categories: Filthy and no opening.  So, I just keep up my skill until such time by doing favors for friends at-cost.

2)  I'm afraid I couldn't say, I'm completely clueless about what's up in the Atlanta area.  I've only been back in the US for about 2 years and only been up to Atlanta about 3 or 5 times for conventions and also that trip up to 1763.

Thank you for the sweet words, I'm so glad I made a good impression!

Going to be at SELF by any chance?

Hey Rumpus!

Ya know I am planning on attending SELF. Hmmm, *rubs hands together greedily*,  if you are coming do you maybe think you might be willing to do my piercings?   I will email you on the other side to discuss it and such.

cheers, Ocilla

abqowner -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (5/6/2008 5:02:37 PM)

Here's my story, FWIW.  I got both nips and my chood pierced at the same time at Angel's in New Orleans.  I wasn't glad, I was nearly orgasmic.  LOVED them.  Unfortunately, there were complications for both nips - they never fully healed, both hit ducts and crusted over within hours.  Even after several months it never got any better.  There was always a sharp, crusty residue surrounding both holes.  Eventually, and to my sincere disappointment, I removed them.  The hood pierce healed quickly and was fantastic.  I lost a ball in the shower after several years, and that was that.  In spite of that I'd definitely recommend them, especially if you are looking for extra sensation.  And yes, it hurt, but I'll never forget what followed.  The endorphin rush was so extreme after the piercings I couldn't walk.  It was a euphoria I've never matched, it lasted for hours.  Once that wore off I was sore but in a good way.  Hugely sexy way.

As for tips and tricks - none.  I mean, what can you do but look at a needle coming at your most tender regions and - well, your brain concludes rightly that you've gone a bit insane.  But it's one of those things, at least for me, where you look back and just marvel that you could do something like that.  It's one of my best memories.  Oh, and FWIW, 2 rings and a bar.

adoracat -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (5/7/2008 5:22:23 AM)

as for crusties, that's normal in the healing process.  your body is trying to get used to the foriegn body in it (the jewelry) and is making antibodies to fight it.  that's what the lymph fluid is (that which produces the crusties).  some people continue this for years on end, or will heal up then get another round of crusties when they become ill.

i got mine done in march, and honestly have very little crusties now.  and that's *with* an impaired immune system that doesnt heal well.

lostgirl83 -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (5/7/2008 9:10:15 PM)

Ok having just had mine done I can honestly say Im SO happy I had them pierced! Really didn't hurt much at all, like being bitten or clamped hard. I do have very sensitive nipples and now... well they're just 10x more sensitive and I love it!

If you're going to do it do your research!!!! www.infinatebody.com You'll have to copy and paste the url b/c Im not advanced enough to make a link BUT this site is for a piercing place in Philadelphia that comes with very high recommendations from everyone I know that has been. I personally did not get mine done here however the girl that I went to had worked there for a number of years. They keep up on the newest techniques and aftercare procedures and have a TON of info for all different kinds of piercings.

I will point out though if you have larger breasts or lower placed nipples use a barbell (no smaller than a 12gauge) at least until its healed (nipples heal from the outside in, it may look good outside, chances are you're still open and healing on the inside) The general consensus from different sites and piercers is that rings don't heal as well because when you wear a bra it pushes the top of the ring up in the nipple and can cause the piercing to heal either in a funny angle or worse, grow completely out in a few months (not sexy!) Also, stick to surgical grade soaps like satin, or sea salt soaks, or both (non iodized salt, could be kosher? lol) DON'T use things like hibiclense, bactine, betadine, rubbing alcohol, peroxide etc... all of those things can be excessively irritating to the delicate tissue on the inside of the nipple and delay healing. No ointments (like neosporin or any other petrolatum based ointments, ever!) in piercings it can actually prevent the tissue from knitting together.

Can you tell I talked to a few people before doing this? Really, I love my nipples, and also being in the medical field I felt I needed to research it as much as possible before taking this step.

Oh and one more thing, a note to hopelessfool; I too had heard this rumor, however the nerves in the nipples are more spread out in tiny bundles as opposed to being in just one area. This being said, its virtually impossible to cause the loss of sensitivity with a piercing due to the piercer using the "wrong angle". Clamping the area off for a long period of time...maybe... but not sticking a needle through it. If the piercer does push the needle through, too close to the top of the nipple or too far forward, the piercing probably will grow out in time, but no sensation will be lost. No worries :)

JinxyKitty -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (5/7/2008 9:16:59 PM)

I have larger breasts and I have to say they should have used a barbell from the start. Changing them mid healing was not fun, but it was that or lose them. They did hurt to get them pierced, and if you have a low pain threshold I do not recommend them. I had no loss of sensation. As a matter of fact I had increased sensation. I never realized how many times through out the day my nipples got hard until I got them pierced. It also feels really nice when someone licks your nipples. My sensation was increased tenfold.

hopelessfool -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (5/7/2008 11:51:58 PM)

As for everyone saying No neosprin. My peircer recommends its use the first 5-7 days to promote healing and to keep infection at bay seeing as it is considered a puncture wound. I used the wonderful plus pain relief and I look down and cant believe theyve only been their a week seems like its been much much longer.

MadamAyesha -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (5/15/2008 1:29:02 AM)

1. Are you glad you got it? Heck yes!!
2. How long did it take to heal? I got it done in December and I'm pretty sure its healed now... Gets a bit tender now and then.
3. Were there any complications? If so did you end up having to remove the jewelry and let it heal? Haven't had any complications - except that I have big nipples which means I can't wear shields [sm=river.gif]
4. Would you recommend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done? For sure!
5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painfull) how much did it hurt to get them pierced, and how long after getting them pierced were you sore? Was so painful it took My breath away but it was only for a split second, and I actually found it quite enjoyable... Ended up giggling for the rest of the time I was there! (Yes I'm a strange chicken, I know!) It was really sore for about 2 or 3 days and then it was only when I lay on it that it would hurt.
6. Any tips or tricks you would reccomend for someone who might get their nipples pierced? Go to an experienced piercer who you're comfortable with. Get some breast feeding pads to stick in your bra (if you wear one!) to stop it getting snagged on your clothing and to soak up and blood, etc.  Get some medical grade rock salt (My piercer gave Me some so I'm not sure where to get it sorry!) and 2 spray/misting type bottles, boil some water and fill one bottle with only boiled water, fill the other with the boiled water and then add 1/2 tsp salt for every 250ml. Buy some medicated soap (Sapoderm is the best one available in Australia) and wash the piercing last when in the shower. Pat the piercing dry with some tissue, soak with the salt solution for 10mins then rinse with the salt solution followed by the plain water.  Repeat in the morning and at night. DO NOT apply any creams, ointments, antispectic liquids to the piercing - the soaking in the salt solution should be enough to kill any buggies! Wear a crop top/singlet/soft bra to bed at night to stop it getting caught on anything.  Don't play with it and don't let anyone else play with it for at least 2 weeks.
7. What type did you get (Ring? Barbell? D-Ring?) I got a Bioflex bar with titanium balls.

...So that turned out to be a bit longer than expected... Hope it helps! [8D]

Three pages of positive reactions but no negative. [&:]

The idea of nipple piercing has been on my mind for a while but knowing the pain I feel with a regular piercing I worry that they will hurt even more. Plus, I don't want it to go bad and lose the special feelings there.

I would really like to read someone with a negative response, to see that side of the coin and compare the downside view to all these positive. Though, I do wonder if said piercings ever become an issue when a woman wants to breast feed. As with the "nipple may lose sensitivity" I've heard different responses to the breast feeding question as well.

redd4Dom -> RE: Nipple Piercing Questions (6/2/2008 7:56:56 PM)

4. Would you recommend it to someone who was thinking about getting it done? only if you want to be in a state of continuous arousal
5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one been minor irritation, 10 being unbearably painful) how much did it hurt to get them pierced? 15 on the 1-10 scale but it's only for about 3 minutes
and how long after getting them pierced were you sore? it was 1996 and i was on active duty in the US Army-i had to run daily & wear hot sweaty BDU's and a bunch of other crap - i was sore for about 2 months maybe 3 you should heal much faster and better
