Does anyone know of a good website on fire play. I've learned the basic's about safety, and proper use with torches, and cups, but I"d like to expand my knowledge base before I convince some one to help me practice.

Thanx for all your help

Well, if you were local, I'd suggest attending Archer's demo on fireplay this coming Saturday.  If he has anything on the subject that is web based, I'm sure he'd be happy to let you know.

TES held a fantastic fireplay workshop while I was in NY (www.tes.org)

Does Illinois have a similar BDSM group running workshops?

Fireplay is something worth learning hands on.  It was great fun practising on/with people who do it all the time.

I think chicago probably has workshops for everything, but I havn't found one for fire play yet.

On a different note, we do have ShabariCon, which is a huge international rope event. *Smile* Thats going to be a fun one to go to.

Master Z at the Sins Center http://www.sinscenter.com/ has taught fire play to a Dom I know here in Wisconsin. Fire play is something you really want to learn from someone rather than just reading about it. One safety idea I picked up at a class I took was: place a thick layer of wax on the subs body first. The wax will protect the skin while your still learning. I have an experienced partner around to help out (while I love any edge play, I'm obsessive about safety).

This is definitely a technique to learn in person.

Fire play is one of those things best learned and practiced with another already-skilled person. Also, have you practiced what you've already learned on yourself?

Some of the technique I've already learned in person. I can safetly use torches as well as fire cups. I learned from a very old, very wiley Domme I know. She deemed me competent enough to "not set her house on fire", which means it's time to start practiceing. I'd like to read up a bit on it for now. Then look into a willing play partner, find demo's and classes, etc.....
