If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?

Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your ass?

I heard Russell Johnson (the professor, on Gilligan's Island) answer that question at the second Mystery Science Theatre 3000 convention.

He said, "There were three women on the island: Mary Ann, Ginger, and Mrs. Howell. Well, Mrs. Howell was married to Mr. Howell, so the Prof's only competition for Ginger and Mary Ann were the Skipper and Gilligan. (Yeah, right.)

Now, what reason could the Professor possibly have had for wanting to leave the island?
