I agree.  He is an incredibly inspiring man. He really is making the most of every moment he has.

popeye1250 -> RE: You have to admire this man, I know I do (5/6/2008 9:14:55 AM)

If that were me I'd start robbing banks.
What are they going to do, put me "in jail?"

Guest123 -> RE: You have to admire this man, I know I do (5/6/2008 9:20:36 AM)

Sir, they may not put you in jail, but like this man, lives for his children, dies for his children, the legacy that he leaves behind.... would you rather someone say, He was am amazing man,.... or would you rather leave behind people that said... he was a criminal.

camille65 -> RE: You have to admire this man, I know I do (5/6/2008 9:34:45 AM)

I understand that sentiment 123 but honestly if I had limited time and I knew that, I would probably try to fulfill my goofy dream of being an international spy/art smuggler and jewel thief.Among other goofy dreams.

Guest, well they're not going to say I was, "an amazing man" anyway! lol
I'd rather have them say, "Tommy! Boy, he got those bastards good!"

I have watched it. I've also closely known someone who I had to inform was going to die and die within a year that turned out to be weeks. The doctors refused to tell her and she asked me for the truth. It didn't even give her enough time to get stuff organized much less think about any sort of legacy she could leave. However she did leave me something, the knowledge that no matter how prepared you think you are... there is still too much living a person wants to cram in before leaving. Doing something daring, dangerous and totally out of character is something I would want to do if I were fortunate enough to get advance warning.

Arrrchibald -> RE: You have to admire this man, I know I do (5/6/2008 12:07:31 PM)

He likes writing and  lecturing...so he gave lectures and worte a book.  Omg bff!

Doing something you enjoy?  When terminally ill?  What's so damn amazing about that?  That he doesn't hate his job?

I love how he talked about how the navel gazing, existentialism, and "woe is me" attitude won't get him anywhere...yet that's exactly what he was doing.  Instead of moping about in a hospital bed, he's moping about with a microphone.

Level -> RE: You have to admire this man, I know I do (5/6/2008 3:54:29 PM)

He's showing you can die with courage, and with some joy, he's trying to provide for his family after he passes, and he's inspiring people around the world. Sure as shit doesn't come across as "moping" to me.

Bonnie and Clyde in a Cadillac Esplanade instead of a '32 Ford?

darchChylde -> RE: You have to admire this man, I know I do (5/6/2008 6:13:29 PM)

Every now and again, so rarely it is easy to miss; i get the chance to believe that there is hope for humanity.  But don't worry, such things are never meant to last.

Irishknight -> RE: You have to admire this man, I know I do (5/6/2008 6:27:37 PM)

With gas prices as they are, Bonnie and Clyde may need to use a moped.

My father was told that he had 6 months to live.  Eight yearslater he is still driving everyone around him crazy and doing what he does.  He didn't run screaming out and leap from airplanes, go on a book tour or anything else.  He just faces each day as it comes.  I get to have my Dad, my son gets his grandfather, and my mother gets to have the same man she married 40 some odd years ago.  I am more thankful for 8 years of him than I would have been for 8 years of him turning into someone else.  To me, thats courage and its inspirational.
