THE Criminal court in the UK,  The Old Bailey, which has been prosecuting crime since 1674 has made available nearly 200,000 criminal trial details at their online site. Its quite fascinating, (yeah I have no life). Have english ancestors? see if they were in the database, they have all the details there, including punishments and actual documents regarding the trial, Im actually using it to follow up some geneology stuff so its been a boon.

I searched under my surname, and there were 1823 results.  Thanks for the link Lucy.  It's very interesting.

I searched under my surname and found nothing.....

Damn...guess my ancestors were more vanilla than I realized.....[:D]

You would need to have a full name to narrow down the search. The present Old Bailey was built in 1907 so i suspect only records for after that period are online.

Thanks for the link, Lucy. Given my line of work, it's quite interesting to nose around old records.

Politesub, the searches I'm running are only pulling up records pre-1900.

hmmmm thats weird, I pulled up mine going back to 1692, altho there are quite a few  not full accounts, , maybe its better to find the link then use the search using names and dates given in the excerpt.
Grins, at slaveboy and Ms M, im glad im not the only one likes nosing around, I have a morbid sense of curiosity

Interesting to search "Molly" and sodomy and see how things have changed in what is a fairly short time.

(Molly is a reference to Molly Houses, where crossdressing and homosexuality went on in private out of the way of the law, which looked unfavourably to say the least, on both activities)
