ok i have read a lot of post and seems like a lot of them are lost on what a switch is.....

so maybe this will help you out....   this is on my profile,.......

(My role)

I am a SwItCh.....

Switches are unique in that these people have both dominant and submissive aspects of their personality. When they are choosing to enhance the dominant aspect of their personality, they have the same responsibilities as the Tops. Slaves and submissive also give Switches the gift of submission and place their trust in them.Switches are also responsible for the training of their slaves/subs and for their actions towards others on the site. On the flip side, Switches can also choose to enhance the submissive aspect of their personality and give submissions to other Switches, Masters, or Mistresses. They then have the responsibility of carrying out their Masters / Mistresses / Switches wishes. While, Switches do submit, they are not slaves. The dominant aspect of Switches personal

A) Don't confuse personality with orientation, most people in the world have dominant and submissive personality traits.  This does not make them dominant, submissive or a switch

B) Many switches are slaves

C) Submission is not a gift

D)  Some switches will switch within a single relationship

To add to the pot, for me a switch is a dominant and a submissive.  Someone who is oriented in personal intimate relationships to be either/both the one with the authority and the one without the authority in an ongoing fairly broad basis.

Not to be confused with an SM switch which is someone who enjoys both bottoming and topping in kinky fun.

I diss agreee SwItChEs are not slaves. they cant be.... the resond is simple you cant be ( collared ) by a top and you have controll over  another under you.  that would make both of you slaves. just one has more respect then the other , but your not a SwItCh. A true SwItCh cant be (collared)  it is against your nature...

I'm not a switch, but I'm not sure how you deciding what a switch can and can't be is helping in any way...

I prefer to allow people to self identify and then tell me what that identity means to them.. then I can decide to engage or not...

Obviously there is a HUGE difference between a "SwItCh"  and a "switch."

In all its basic terms, to me a switch is someone who could go either way. If a switch finds someone they're happy with who is on top, I don't see why they can't be happy being collared. Just because it's in their nature to switch, doesn't mean they can't stay happy with a dominante or submissive person. That's like saying if you're bi then you'll never be happy with staying on just one side of the fence.

Said switch can easily be submissive to their mate but dominante to those under him/her.

It's not about respect, it's about authority.

Disagree all you like, but I can introduce you to a few slaves who are also dominants and have their own submissives.  Will you say to all of their faces that they aren't as they identify and you know better than they do who they are?

All labels mean just what people take them to mean. All people are really much more complicated than labels, even if some of them don't act it most of the time. Many people like the comfort of taking one roe and one label, but some of us don't. Some people find they can happily offer submission to some people, and accept domination by others.

In a perfect world I'd love to find someone else who could switch between roles within a relationship, but in reality I know I will find some who always submit to me, and some who will always dominate me. I could be collared by the right dominant - but it wouldn't prevent me from switching roles with someone else.

BDSM is about diversity. There is no ONE TRUE PATH.  Accept other's differences and try to understand them. Diversity makes the world a whole lot mre interesting.

well this switch would love to be collared, and is very surprised to learn that it is against her nature.

shrug. it all goes back how one identifies and defines their identity not necessarily what others feel about that identity.

Of course a Switch can be collared. I am totally, 100% completely, without a shadow of a doubt, enslaved to one man.
To all other people I am Dominant. At no point do I want to dominate that one man, and niether do I ever want to submit to the others.I don't switch with the same partner.
Everyone is what they are naturally. Labels can be both helpful in the vaguest sense of the word, and unhelpful when applied too  literally. Switch best describes me, but often people misunderstand what I actually am because of that label so the term is the sharpest double edged sword.

Well not submitting to someone doesn't mean you are necessarily dominant towards them, certainly not in terms of a Ds authority dynamic.

Ahh but is a collar any good without being attached to a lead?  And that lead being attached to a good sturdy post?

There is a regular switch and a light switch. The difference is that when you flip a light switch, it gets darker or lighter. If you flip a regular switch, it might do something but you probably won't know what.

I am this.
I am that.
I am both this and that.
I am neither this nor that
I am not that.
I am not this.
I have no idea what I am unless I am with someone else.
I am only myself when I am alone.
I go where I am sent and do what I am told.
I belong wherever I am and do whatever I like.
I used to be one way but now I am the other way.
I like a hot cup of coffee and dark chocolate, but vanilla ice cream. It's confusing.
