Maybe I'm not reading what you said correctly but, I don't assume to be anything but true to myself. I'm not sure how you twisted what I said to the point you thought I think I'm better than anyone. We all have strength and weaknesses. I'm just more concerned about finding my place rather than trying to be like, or change someone else.

I am aware of what you said. I can read very well. I was merely making a point on what you happened to say. Also putting some knowledge about human nature behind it.
Most people are not evolved enough to allow things to bounce off of them without having to try to get the world to believe things the way they see them. It is refreshing to see a person who is stable enough in who they are that they do not care.

Thank you for clarifying your point. This is actually a new perspective I just accepted this year. It's helped me to really find mysef when I stopped worrying about others more than I worried about me.

To the rest of you sorry I took this thread off track.

Sincerely,
sub suzanne

M. Z-

< I woke up in a soho doorway, the policeman knew my name- he said 'you can go sleep at home tonight if you can get up and walk away'...>

(Sorry- now it's stuck in my head)

I'd like to think I am real, if for no other reason, when someone asks me about my dreams or fanatsys, it's hard to come up with something I haven't done...

I would hope that those that meet me find that I am pretty much the person I represent myself as- I suppose that's 'real', too. I hope, so, anyway- I have spent a lot of time working on myself, and I think I have mostly done a pretty good job of become the man I want to be. I try to think about what I do and who I am, and my standards are pretty firm for myself, but flexible for others.

When it comes to this stuff, I often think that around ten years ago it stopped being 'something I did' and began to become a part of 'who I am'. It is a fairly inate part of my character, and something that I would have trouble delinating in myself. Is it related to my sexuality that my suborndinates at work will line up for a tough project with me over taking an easy assignment with the other superiors? Does my ability to effectivly utilise personal assets to achieve my professional goals make me a more effective lover?

I think there IS such a thing as 'real'- I mean that there is a valid, if subjective, value or quality that we recognise as 'real' or perhaps 'true'.

But really, all that matters is that we stay warm in a cold, cold world...

Stay warm,
Lawrence

Very interesting and well said, thanks, Lawrence.

I am the sum and total of what everyone else percieves me to be. I am good to some, harsh to others and unyielding to still others. I'm Dad, husband, lover, friend, brother-in-arms and compatriot. I'm a good neighbor, a poor horseman, a strong ally and a gentle man. What the world sees of me and what I see of myself are different in their sameness and polar in their differences. No one person knows me but without all of them I wouldn't exist as I am.

People I Love and Respect:

People who have humanity,
People who have Honour,
People who have integrity,
People who have discipline,
People who have a sense of duty,
People who care!

People I can not Tolerate:

Mean minded people,
People who are bigoted,
People who pour abuse and derogatory comments on other peoples' works and have no creative ability themselves.
Craven cowards,
Abusers and attackers of: The aged, the infirm, the young, women, religions and priests and priestesses (in any form) of any religion.

whew, thanks for the disclaimer, this slave thought you were trying to consolidate the discussion boards into just one post!

LOL, that pretty much sums it up for me, too. I once wrote a 304 page novel trying to explain myself. Not that anyone ever bought it...the words or the novel.

Reality and Truth are wayy too subjective for me to define for another person. Am I real because of this or that? Odd, I have never had my reality questioned before. My motivations, loves, and hates are uniquely mine, as with anyone lese.

Being real, and being "for real" are two different things. All matter is "real". People who act dishonestly with other people for no other reason than because they are bored and have nothing better to do...are not for real. Thats my opinion on the matter. :)

I agree totally with that. Only would add animals too. I cannot stand animal abusers as well.

Are you real because you've seen how "they" do it and know that because of their methods, they aren't real? Are you real because someone said you are? Are you more real because someone you like or love said you were a true (add title here)? Are you real because of all the books and websites that you have read?

I'm real because I strive to be absolutely real to myself. The first person I have to be honest with is the one in the mirror. As long as I am honest with them I can remain honest with everyone else.

The image in the mirror is never static, and neither is the reality...it's an ever-evolving and never-ending process.

As for BDSM - I see the Dom in my relationship as another mirror I must face naked each day.
