Hi everyone,

my dear Master came up with the idea of suspending me upside down from the ceiling. i always love it when He has new ideas for bondage, whether for His use or as a punishment. But this one seems to be a bit tricky and i would like to hear other people's experiences on it. Specially on the safety issues.

Master has these big metal round things screwed into the walls and ceiling, all over his appartment. That is where we play most of the time. We have never had any problem with them, but then again, i have never been suspended upside down from them (well once, shortly, when we tried it out with a bed underneath me). Does anyone know what to pay special attention to when it comes to these things? And how does one test how much weight they can actually hold? (We put a rope through it and i pulled myself up on it, without a problem, that was a single one, and with the suspension we will use more to shift the weight..)

Also, what would be the best way for the actual suspension? We thought about hanging up a bar, from which i can hang from my knees (like a trapeze). But since we couldn't find a good bar, we thought we might want to try that one in a club.
The other way was hanging me from my ankles, with special ankle cuffs. We did do that and it was, well let's call it a very good first attempt :o))

Problems we ran in to was that the blood ran to my head awfully quickly, so that i couldn't stay upside down for more than a couple of minutes. Master says that i should mainly train my heart, so it gets strong enough to keep pumping blood around even when i'm upside down. That sounds logical enough to me, but others must have the same problem, what do you do about it?
Another thing was that once suspended, Master wanted to tie my hands behind my back. i stopped Him at that point, because it felt too dangerous. Should anything happen which would cause me to fall, i would not be able to catch myself and land on my head. And i don't have to explain why that would be a problem. i really don't want to break my neck.

Or am i being too scared here? i mean, i do absolutely trust my Master, and being able to use my arms and hands just feels very weird and i don't like it. He might as well not hang me if i can still do that. But i also want to be really really sure that nothing can happen, no unscrewing of the big hole things (i know they have a name, just don't know the English word, sorry).

Any advice and experiences would be very very welcome.
Thanks!

There's an essay on suspension on my website. It addresses a number of your questions.

Hello There,
They actually make specific things called suspension boots you can get that keep your feet secure.
I'd also like to say you don't have to have your head high off the floor to be suspended. If you don't trust the hooks in the ceiling maybe asking if he can position you 3-4 inches off the floor would be the solution. Not only then can he tie your arms behind you without you being too fearful, he can reach your crotch too (wink wink).
As far as the blood rushing to your head, for me the first few minutes are much like you express, but if you don't have any medical reason not to and you continue to hang you move past that feeling. Once you come back down from being upside down for a good length of time lay flat for a few minutes, then sit for a few minutes, then get up. If not you may pass out from getting up too fast.
Doctors have OK'd being upside down for people with no extenuating health issues as it can help your back. Over all its pretty safe if you're healthy.
Have Fun,
sub suzanne

I have been performing vertical, horizontal & inverted suspension for 10 years without incident or injury. I have several suggestion:

1. Screw 3-4 eye bolts of 3" length and 1" eye diameter into separate ceiling rafters of 2" X 4" each. These are usually 13" apart, so 3 would be 39", 4 would be 52". This distributes body weight evenly thru 3-4 points e.g. 120 lb thru 3 bolts = 40 lb per bolt, 160 lb thru 4 bolts = 40 lb per bolt. I suggest you not exceed 50 lb per bolt/rafter.

2. Insert a 3/4" galvanized steel pipe thru the eye bolts. This would be a 48" pipe for 3 bolts over the 39" span of 3 bolts/rafters, a 60" pipe over the 52" span of 4 bolts/rafters.

3. Suspend an 120 Volt electrical industrial winch of 250-400 lb lifting capacity from the galvanized pipe. This style winch is commonly available at tool stores [e.g. Harbor Tool] for $100-150. These have a button control for lift and descent. This creates a smooth, effortless movement independent of the strength of the dom performing the suspension. The dom must test the device with his own body weight thru smooth and jerking movements to test the safety of the ceiling bolts which are the weakest point in the system.

Advantages of electric winch device: a) The dom is free to focus his attention upon the sub; b) provide reassurance, guiding her body thru ascent and descent; c) stopping at any point convenient for oral sex, anal/vaginal penetration; d) quick descent if panic, blackout or vomiting occur.

4. I recommend beginning with vertical, then horizontal positions.
Gain skill in rope & knot work and distribution of body weight over 3-4 suspension points. Achieve smooth technique which communicates competence & inspires confidence in your suspendee. Live-test your device and skills in vertical and horizontal positions which can cause nonfatal injuries if the system fails.

5. Failure in a vertical suspension can be cause paralysis or death from neck fractures and traumatic head injury. This should be attempted only after many months of experience with vertical and horizontal positions and a thoroughly tested mechanical system. Duration of inversion is typically 3-5 minutes for suspendees in good cardiovascular condition. This should not be done with anyone with heart problems such as arrhythmia. The suspendee should not eat/drink for 2-3 hours prior to suspension to prevent vomiting. NEITHER DOM NOR SUB SHOULD USE ALCOHOL OR DRUGS DURING SUSPENSION.

Finally, proceed step-by-step. Crawl before you run. Your sub is COMPLETELY dependent upon your skill. Earn that trust using caution, acquired skill thru experience, and good judgement.

Suspension is suspension when it comes to the actual connections into the ceiling. If four of the hooks can support your weight in something like a sling there is no reason four of them wont support your weight if you are upsidown, provided the weight is evenly distributed.

The thing I would be more paying attention too is the way things are actually secured to you. Be careful with what is used that it isn't something to thing and that ends up with your circulation cut off or it being cut into you. Also in something liek a sling og something that suspends you from various point it is easier to distribute your weight, while I havn't suspended someone upsidown it would seem a bit harder to spread that out.

Do the same as you would with any other new potentialy dangerous act. Read up, ask questions, experament small and work your way up.

The hoists from Harbor Frieght work great and some are rather inexpensive. I have one in my shop..... Hmmmmm........ Has anyone given any thought to an inversion table? The demo on either QVC or HSN gave me lots of ideas.
