If you think going to the doctor to have earwax removed is going to result in professional care, you might want to ask more questions.  Many (but not all) doctors have their medical assistant (who may or may not have any training) use a solution of water and hydrogen peroxide in a water pik (yes, that thing that is supposed to clean your teeth) and shoot it into your ear, washing out the crud.

I had a small piece of hair from getting my hair cut that found its way onto my eardrum.  It was driving me nuts with a constant tickly feeling.  The doc I worked for looked in there, confirmed what it was, and had the MA wash it out.  It hurt like hell because she kept sweeping the pulsing water across my eardrum.  It did finally get washed out.

I have had my ears done with an ear candle and the relief that I got from using it was noticable.

I've used them with great results on my kids when they've had earwax buildup.  I've also used garlic drops in their ears for earaches and have never had to use an antibiotic of any kind for that.  The garlic drops have cleared up any earache within a matter of hours.  Yay for both old wives tales because I've found that they both work.

I wish my mom had known bout garlic when I was younger... I was too old for tubes but kept getting horrendous ear aches in the middle of the night... it would have saved us both (and the doctor we'd call) a lot of sleep!

Yes...  The more you read about the woman, the less reliable a source of information she becomes.  Of course a holistic therapist is going to peddle a holistic therapy.

why were you told you were too old for tubes??

my ex-wife-in-law's daughter just had hers replaced (at age 17) and my mama had her first set put in when she was about 50.

My girlfriend uses earcandles. One thing is for sure, for her it is relaxation. I'm allowed to hold the candles upright and clip off the burned candle before it could fall into her hair or on her face. For me it is an act of devotion and training to sit still perfectly as long as the candles burn. But I can't tell if the candles are for real or just a scam. I think it is fun.

My mother had to get her ears syringed weekly at the drs otherwise she can't hear, she started using the candles and that weekly dr visit is now a monthly one and even he says that their is less stuff coming out her ears, so the candles must be doing something for her.
