I'm glad I spent my time wading in waist deep "hoax" trying to find bits and pieces of people's lives.

As far there being a huge group of people that live off of the government, there is that group in every city.  When you congregate people with little or no income, little or no education and little or no hope into one area you get a ghetto.  Every city in the world that I have ever been in, and yes I do travel,  has them. 

As far as the rhetoric about being Christian, what gets said sometimes makes me want to vomit -- it destroys the name.  I don't know what bible you guys read but in the one I read Christ was asked what was truly important and the response was to put God above all else and lover your neighbor as yourself.  To me that says do all I can to help out the guy on the street.  I try my best to live up to my own morals -- sometimes I fail sometimes I succeed.  My spiritual thoughts are about what I should do not about what others should do.

As far as the OP goes, I can't really think that someone who bites and spits in public as a means of "defense" could be considered sane in anyone's book.  I don't believe in putting insane people in jail for the crime of being insane.

No how many times Oprah says that New Orleans was levelled by Katrina, it still never happened. 
Now those who went to where enormous numbers of homes were instantly reduced to kindling, and tried to help those folks glue things back together, know what devastation looks like.

Everybody is free to set their own values... in my book, doing something that might harm another person isn't to be dismissed lightly because the person doing the harming has problems, or is old , or is young, or is rich,  etc. The response can be mitigated by factors like that, but they are just that... factors, not free passes.
In my book, the people in Mississippi are the real Katrina victims, and defending those New Orleans people who looked at the near miss as a chance to 'get over' on the system is nothing to applaud.

But that's just me.


True about the hell MS went through. We have friends that lived in Pass Christian; lived being the key word. They're back here, now.

Status: offline 		Maybe I wasn't clear.  I was personally in both Mississippi and New Orleans immediately after Katrina.  My information comes from my own eyes and not some hand picked photos on the internet.  More people live in New Orleans than in Slidell, Gulfport Biloxi put together so more people (not buildings) were displaced.  I did not imagine block after block after block of houses completely underwater.  I did imagine finding 1000s of people's pets dead in their homes and back yards.  I did not imagine bull dozers leveling entire neighborhoods with all of the homes and people belongings.

most of the real katrina victims are already productive members of society again.  but too damn many of them are still sucking the tit of the government cow.....thing is, katrina chose to hit an area that was already pretty addicted to the tit.

and in the end it will probably help new orleans.  cause a good many of them are choosing to stay where they landed. we sure still have our share here in atlanta.  and they brought a shitload of crime when they first arrived.

thats just facts.

Well thats why I asked if shes willing to put her ass where her mouth is...  I mean she knows so much about them and is soooooooooooooooo certain that those of us who actually have them in our cities are all wrong about them... But I already proved my point - shes smarter than she acts - she said no... Because deep down she knows what they are too - but its not PC for her to face her own fears and prejudices. Her mission is just to point fingers at others who actually face and admit their own.

And before you reverse the question - NO, I wouldnt do it either. Despite being a 6'4" 230 lb combat vet, I dont even drive through there without my Sig 226 out of the holster and in my lap. But then again Im just a closeminded bigot who doesnt understand them like she does.
