Republican Sen.Chuck Hagel,last night:

"I never understand how anyone in any realm of civilized discourse could sort through the big issues and challenges and threats and figure out how to deal with those without engaging in some way...."

Hagel then offered a wry tweak of his GOP colleague. "I am confident that if Obama is elected president that is the approach we will take. And my friend John McCain said some other things about that. We'll see, but in my opinion it has to be done. It is essential ."<referring to talking with Iran,Venezuela,etc>

Hagel, who sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, went on to belittle the tendency for some within his own party to disparage those who tout diplomacy. "You take some risks in talking about this," he said, "especially in the Congress, because you can immediately be branded as an appeaser."

And when asked to respond to rumors circulating within political circles that the Bush administration was ginning up the possibility of war with Iran, the Senator even raised the specter of impeachment.

"You've got the power of impeachment, now that is a very defined measure if you are willing to bring charges against the president at all. You can't just say I disagree with him, let's impeach him," said Hagel. An attack on Iran without Congress' consent, he added, "would bring with it... outstanding political consequences, including for the Republican Party."

Finally, he charged that if the preeminent foreign policy objective is to achieve security in Israel and stability within the broader Middle East, then the Bush track -- which McCain has endorsed -- is ill-advised.

"If you engage a world power or a rival, it doesn't mean you agree with them or subscribe with what they believe or you support them in any way," he said. "What it does tell you is that you've got a problem you need to resolve. And you've got to understand the other side and the other side has got to understand you."

Hagel is a RINO (Republican In Name Only). So that's no big deal.

Let Obama talk to Iran....we'll see that country mop the floor with another American president and Obama will be out by 2012. Remember Iran knocked one left-wing kooky president out in 1980. They will do it again.

It is not in Iran's best interest to do anything we want...or even to listen to us. It's in their interest to develop nuclear weapons and increase their influence in that region, hoping to push America and Israel out and overthrow the Saudi monarchy and gain a firm grip on the world oil market. That's been their goal since 1979....what makes you think that goal has changed at all?

As for Chavez...I really dont care what we do with that goofball. He's no threat to anyone but to his own people who keep stupidly electing him. The insults going back and forth between us and him is childish at best. Especially considering how we need each other. The US has the only refineries in the world that can refine Venezuelian oil. So his threats that he will no longer sell America any oil is hollow as can be. Because if he did that his economy would crash while we will simply find the 2-4 million barrels a day somewhere else.

Ahmadinejad is a threat to the mid-east, numerous allies, and a threat to the United States. Chavez and Raul Castro are not.

Yeah,he means nothing,lol hell,less than nothing.

Of course he has no credibility with neo-cons,he`s normal.

No matter that he`s an elected official and long time republican, he disagrees with Bush,so he`s a phony.

Do you have an opinion, other that Rush`s opinion?

Then maybe you can explain why Lieberman is trotting around the country speaking along side McCain.

But maybe he still has some sour feelings for the Dems after what they tried to do to him in Connecticut. I would too....I dont blame him.

  And what did those meanie democrats try to do to Lieberman in Connecticut?

Poor Joey.

LOL

He lost the frick`n primary,...fair and square.jeeshh.That`s politics.lol

What,.....he lost?

So?

You make it sound like something ~tewwible~ happened.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If he was a man,he`d of run again the next round or for another position,as a democrat.
It was his lack of character and substance, that lead him to forsake his own party.
Lieberman left the democrats,not the other way around.
He`s taking a huge gamble on McCain.They can have each other for all I care.
He`ll be losing his seniority and committee seat soon,and when McBush is defeated in the fall,Lieberman`s career will be essentially over.
If there is no god and McCain wins,Lieberman will be a made man.
lol
To answer your question,Lieberman is following McCain around to correct him during his senior moments.
Seems McCain has a lot of those and needs guys to constantly correct him.
Better hope that clears up soon,b/c it`s too obvious to hide.
Whoever it is we need to have a lot less "foreign policy."
And they need to leave the Taxpayer's Checkbook home when they visit foreign countries!
