I would point out that only a minority of their users who are 36 or under are sex offenders, but they can't tell which ones those are either. I think they need to delete those accounts also, think of the children!

Most of the people they claim they are trying to clear out LIE ABOUT THEIR AGES claiming to be in the age of the intended victims. That is a proven fact from many many prosecutions. Unfortunately a number of people who haven't lied about their age and details, and who should've known better have communicated with people under 16 (or 18/21 depending on country, state etc), have got too close and have been stupid enough to end up in a relationship.

This is true for both men and women, though prosecution wise there are considerably fewer ladies to the men. The fact that faceparty and most of the mass media seem to kepp ignoring is that 95% of child sex offences take place within the family! There are not 1000's of paedophiles out there trawling the internet. I have seen the official Home Office, now Ministry of Justice figures which support this.

Currently there is a hot spot for men in their late 40's and 50's for most sex crimes, but with child sex crimes the ages range now from 16 (yes I kid you not) through to the people in their 80's. Unfortunately our now enlightenned government has decided that a lad of 16 who has a sexual encounter with a girl of 15 who may even be in the same year in school, possibly the same tutor group is now a dangerous offender! I will go into how ludicrious this is but it'll ruin that lads life for the rest of his life!

It would be quite simple for the creaters of these websites to write software that stops people under a certain age communicating with people older. Lots of social networking sites manage this, so why can't faceparty? I was speaking to a lot of old school friends through faceparty but now we as a group have decided to leave en-masse, we've sent them a stinking email which has not only serving police officers signing it, but solicitors, a barrister, one high court judge, lots of businessmen and women, and a hell of a lot of people with families.

All faceparty have managed to do is piss off 2563 people in one hit. They have emailed back the sex offender drivel, but one of our number is psychologist who works with trying to deal with serious sex offenders and he has told faceparty what a load of old twaddle they are spouting. If the professionals who are there trying to deal with the problem think faceparty are talking crap then I for one totally agree with them.

As faceparty is facing stiff competition from superior social networking sites and as noted they are re-launching thsi to me and my friends is nothing more than a cynical cheap publicity tool. I now hope that it blows up in their faces.

Since when did sex offender  equal  only child molsters

My guess is faceparty want to restrict their age of their members to were they would have more similiar interest and used the  sex offenders  tactic  stupidly as their means/excuse of doing so

I don't know how they obtained their statistics, if they did ...  possibly they used the US sex offender registry that gives the current age of the offenders instead of looking at the age they were at the time of the offense

Sounds pretty common for a swinger group that is hung up on youth and beauty.

"Let's find an excuse to get rid of these ugly old people-they are so unnattractive."

This seems the most likely reality... It's easier to get away with "we're protecting our members from a vague risk" than "we only want young people on our sex hookup site".

so, when you turn 18 you can buy cigarettes, you're expected to vote... then 21 comes and you can drink, and now 36 is when everyone turns into sexual predators?

forget being an astronaut or a rockstar, I can't wait to grow up so I can be a sex offender.
offensive sex is the best.

Not everyone turns into sexual predators at 36; it's just that nobody can do it before that age. That just doesn't happen.

It's interesting really - I was thinking as I read this that I have received a lot of messages from guys in their early twenties lately - and I have been wondering if I may have reached the 'daddy' age or something like that - being in my prime and all... I'm 47 - eh, 27  I'm usually not particularily interested in guys that young, because most (note that I said most) of them are either looking for the 'pie in the sky' or simply wants a quick shag and often seem unable to focus beyond that... talk about sexual predators!

My point is: it is just as likely that faceparty will loose a lot of their younger members as well because not everyone are inclined to date within their own age group. I never visited that site though, but I agree that their new policy sounds more like a desperate attempt of promotion than anything else. There's several really great networking sites, and faceparty has apparently just opted out of the possibility to become one of them.

What can one say stu-pid-ity knows no bounds only people, de folks who run face-party.
Know someone who was on that site and he got some contacts from folks in Russia or other
surrounding countries wanting to meet, or come over or stay with them or marriage
or whatever ye be `aving yerself.

So talk of predators, does that include russian mafia types trying to can folks in de west into
marriage contracts and more.
Bogus profiles and tey are worried about folks over de age of 36 being predators..??
What is it tey say about art imitating life or is it..???
When use word elderely - tend to think of folks in 70s or 80s - not in mid 30s.

Wo runs face-party bunch of teenagers off their heads on...????.
The biggie question..will yahoo follow..???? will they f...k. cause they are
not that short sighed or plain stu-pid.

Ye are as young as ye feel or de person ye be feeling - is age discrimination not illegal
in de uk.??

It also seems to have come at the same time that they have removed all their outside advertising... they say that it was their decision, however that is not quite the truth.  Most of their advertisers were sent screenshots of their advert running over the profile of a woman called 'I_do_anything' - she just happened to have a cock in her mouth, along with the screenshot was a list of other profiles which had uncensored pictures on.  A lot of the advertisers were trying to attract the 'family market', eg. First Choice Holidays who pride themselves on the fact that they teach children to swim on holiday etc, oh and also the BBC advertising their childrens programme 'The Night Garden' - as you can imagine the companies contacted their ad agencies and had the adverts removed immediately.  So Faceparty lost most of their advertising revenue overnight.  Shame eh lol.

The company that owned FP have gone into liquidation and have been bought out by a company called Anarchy Towers (who just happen to be the same people), but they are saying that it was impossible for them to buy all the accounts on FP so have chosen to buy only accounts of the people upto the age 36.  (Anyone who had paid for their Cool Tools service which was £24.99 has lost their money).   FP have been left with the younger people who tend to use their £1.50 text service to advertise their profile on the homepage.  Many people believe that its a smart move - a smaller site which takes less administration, which costs less money, whilst keeping all the money from Cool Tools subscriptions and getting £1.50 every few seconds from the text mad younger generation - kind of makes up for their loss of advertising revenue!
