you're kidding? I am all for kids safety, but when you are talking about a lil one riding training wheeled bikes it is getting a little silly.

Sorry Girlfriend, but I have to err on the side of caution/disagree w/you on this one. I'd rather have my little guys/gals wear a helmet than not. Seen too many lacerated skulls that could have been prevented.

**Eta that training wheels are NOT that stable and yes, parents SHOULD be holding them, but w/a cell phone glued to one ear, not paying attention, I'd get a helmet***

OH DON'T GET ME STARTED.  Honey, I remember when we used acoustic couplers and 300 BAUD was supreme.

I remember oiled paper tape.
I remember the PDP-8
I remember an IBM System 70 that took up an entire room and had the ultimate computing power of ONE MEG of memory.  YES.  That's right.  ONE - EFFING - MEG.  The UW-Milwaukee CSC was so effing proud.

The IBM 1620 used punched paper tape and the console typewriter used to throw keys.

There was a professor from State,
Who loved his PDP-8.
Twas told to suppress it,
For, to express it,
Might OR a NOR gate.

Ah yes... the PDP-8... an IBM 360... an MDS 2100... with the punched tapes, punched cards, and reels upon reels of magnetic tape. Back when being a computer operator meant something... when it was a hard day's work.

Especially when a hub lock broke on the tape drive, leaving the metal reel free to fly off in unanticipated directions during a high-speed wind... spooling hundreds of feet of tape off as we wait for the reel to finally come to rest.

Yes, those were the days.

;-)

christine1 -> RE: Remember When? (5/28/2008 4:22:44 PM)

remember when you'd come in from playing in the summer time and swipe a swig of your dads warm beer in a can and he'd chuckle?  (ok maybe that one isn't as widespread as i'm thinking, but it does make me laugh and shake my head at the same time...)

Yea, and remember when your parents were sitting around shooting up and you took a syringe.....just kidding. I'm not a sickly freak like you. [:D]
( Lushy, who really did swig off a beer when she was a kid but never liked it)

Hell my dad ordered me to drink the first sip of every one of his beers... to prove I was a man :P

sappatoti -> RE: Remember When? (5/28/2008 4:30:13 PM)

Since neither of my parents didn't drink and never kept alcohol in the house, I wasn't able to take a swig of their beer. They did, however, happen to swipe the beer that I had in my super-double-secret hiding space.

Parents always seem to know where those places are.
