VENTURA: “Well, first of all, I made a statement when I was governor and stand by it today. Love is bigger than government. Who the hell are we as a government to tell people who you can fall in love with? I think it‘s absurd that fact it‘s even being debated. “

Ventura goes on to introduce the notion that you do *not* put civil-rights issues on the popular ballot, and that if you did, you'd have States in the south where slavery was still legal. ( Referring to California's *supposed* referendum promulgated by outside-California agitators... ) And then he dumps it back in the laps of the pussy "elected representatives" who don't have the balls to take a stand and enact legislation supporting the notion of Equal Rights...

( Get used to it, the gays ain't sitting in the back of the bus - no more! )

I wish he'd run for president as a third party candidate, I'd vote for him.
Of course if a truckdriver ran for president against these three sorry senators he or she would get my vote.

If Bullwinkle and Rocky ran against the current candidates I would vote for them.

Ventura was as good as he was because nobody expected him to actually do anything... we should have more pro wrestlers in office all over the country.... They already know how to posture... And they cant possibly do worse than what we already got

Undertaker for President 08!!!

We have met the enemy and he is us.

My biggest problem with him is he supports open borders. He doesnt want any control of the borders at all. And he doesnt think immigration has hurt the American economy at all.

Alumbrado -> RE: Jesse Ventura schools Pat Buchannan (5/24/2008 1:24:07 PM)

Neither do the rest of the politicians in both parties who have been voting to sustain 'guestworker' policies for decades... he is just honest about it.

I think he's directly on target with the commentary about putting civil rights issues to popular vote.  There is a reason that genuine democracy was such a fiasco in Athens (with the legislature doing things like repeatedly reversing itself on a daily basis and voting to kill people); there has to be checks and balances, and our court system does a good job of coping with the classic tyranny of the majority problem.

Hmmmm.... Obama/Ventura 2008.. has a nice ring to it don't you think?
