Well, why would I choose to have that princple?  Seems very ineffective and impractical for most situations.  Even someone who owns their business tends to need to bend for a lot of people and a lot of situations- I don't see why that's a bad thing or something to be against all the time?

I think there's a difference between compromise and adopting a submissive guise.

I think there's more use in taking a hit now and again on the understanding that choosing your battles wisely will serve you well, than there is in a change of persona for 40/50 hours a week.

Either way, I'm still bending over for some fucker and, quite frankly, I'd rather give a blowjob for a bonus or let my boss have a nice ego to make my life easier in the workplace than let someone take credit for my intelluctal property. It's all taking hits, it just depends what you personally value.

I don't think so.

One is turning the other cheek on the odd occasion while maintaining a dignified stance; the other is developing a working relationship involving constantly being on a plate for someone else's use.

As other have posted, though I am deeply submissive in my privaste personal life, I interact in an assertive and dominant manner with the world at large. Just as I am really at the heart of it and incredibly shy person, I refuse to let that shyness create a barrier between myself and the world. I have always believed that this is somewhat of an act for me, I have always felt I pretended to be assertive, and authoritarian, and a leader and that people "fell for it" ... last week it was brought to my attention that it wasn't pretending - it was my way of being with the world - that I wouldn't have gotten to where I am if I behaved submissively to the world in general

This woman has to decide what it is she wants and make a decision to be the person who will acheive that. If she wants success in this highly charged, male, testosterone fueled environment, then she has to behave in a way that will be successful there. There might have to be a certain amount of pretending in that to start with, but if she wants this career that much ...

the fact that the happiest place for me in the world is warming Sirs feet has no connection to or effect upon the fact that at work I am controlling, powerful and dominant ... it doesn't make me less submissive at home or more ball breaking at work

You don't have to agree. If you take credit for my work, I'd regard that as you giving me the metaphorical fuck up the ass and it's not something that I'd be willing to bend over for. I will (and have) ignored a boss putting magazines where the cover story was obesity on the chairs of any employee they regarded as overweight but my work is my achievement - not yours. What you regard as turning the other cheek I regard as bending over and what you regard as bending over I regard as turning the other cheek.

It's a difference in perspective, neither of us is right or wrong.
