Another racist starts spewing hate at Obama's church....this time Father Michael Pfleger. 20 years Obama has been listening to this racism and this junk and he's trying to tell me he now all of a sudden, when he is running for president, that he doesnt agree with it? If you are a member of a church or any organization and a speaker starts spewing racism and sexism and hate....are you going to sit there for 20 years and listen to it? The current pastor is the same as the one who just retired. Some peoples eyes will never open.

I will be very interested to see how the Obama camp spins this one. This is Obama's church. These are his spiritual roots....roots from which he has been extremely reluctant to distance himself. This is the church he said, once upon a time, was not "controversial". And for everyone will dismiss this because it is not Obama speaking, the question is and will always be just how much of this vile and vicious venom does Obama himself believe? How sincere is the 11th hour rejection of such crap when it comes after 20 years of listening to it?

i have most often slept through sermons, although these pastors seem to be a bit loud for that luxury. i would be more than willing to recant for personal sins, but the words used seem to indicate that, in the view of those speaking, penance will be meted out based on skin color rather than guilt or innocence. i had thought that is what we are trying to get past.

Ridiculous. You're so desperate to drag the debate to its lowest possible level you go and dig the most absurd, irrelevant stuff. If Obama didn't go to church, you'd accuse him of being an "Islamic terroric". Oh, hold on, have you already done that? I've lost count. But he does go to church, god bless his soul, so you go and scramble for scrapes from the dishes served by those that happen to make sermons at his congregation. It's pathetic, and irrelevant, but you're happily participating in the slander machine. I wonder whether you even realise it?

To the best of my understanding the new pastor had a visiting priest visit the church. He dismissed the concept of "get over it" by relating the way white people had treated black people to the feeling that a woman who had been repeatedly raped would feel. He also said that the rapist should be punished. Please understand that i tend to sleep through sermons, but in the little part of me that stays awake that sounds like a call to arms to punish the white people (not a specific one as would be the case in a rape). Having lost my career path on the basis of affirmative action, i am not resentful, but feel, quite honestly, that i have been raped, done my penance, or served my time. i'm over it, now will you (Father Flegler sp?) be.
