It seems no matter how much I clean it, it never "smells" fully clean. Any tips?

Get a good toy cleaner designed to clean whatever type of material the toy is made of.

And by all means.  I knew a newbie sub once who soaked her jelly butt plug in bleach to clean it.
She had a rash for a couple of week's.
Stay away from bleach.

Mild soap and water also works well...but if you don't feel its clean enough get a toy cleaner

I have a list of things for you to consider.

First, Cut off the problem at the source. ENEMA'S can be both erotic and remove most of the issues surrounding Ass play or possible Scat Play. Once a girl has had a warm soapy Enema and a Warm Wash out or possibly a mild Benzocaine Laced secondary enema the Anal Cavity will be free of 99% of the Solid waste that most toys will come into contact with if the girls diet and BM's are regular and solid. (Okay TMI... but seriously if the Butt is a waterfall then an Enema Ain't gunna help all that much.)

If a good soap or mild clenser enema is done and a washout followup is done before anal play then you can treat the Anus as you would the Vagina and realize that is is really just as clean IF YOU CLEAN IT WELL IT'S JUST SKIN!

As for the toys, Don't buy SHIT toys and your Toys won't smell like SHIT. This is a RULE OF THUMB and one that I follow heavily because nothing is worse than ruining an anal experience by having them suck on a CLEAN anal plug and Vomit cause it smells like ass and they think you have just shoved a Turd in thier mouth.

FYI If your Toys already smell like Poo well then you might as well either ONLY use them for Personal Use and know for yourself that they are clean or just get rid of them. then in the future only buy the following

Silicone (Mind you SOLID Not Mesh Particle and YES they do sell Mesh Particle Silicone and it is Crap. So that you know Most Latex is also crap)
Glass
Stainless Steel
Stone (Highly Polished and of the Marble Variety and NEVER Open Stone it should be Polished to a NEAR glass finish)

And finally

CLEAN YOU TOYS RIGHT AWAY.
DON'T FORGET TO DUST THEM! (Talc or Sex Toy Talc or Baby Powders are what I use)
WASH THEM AGAIN BEFORE THE NEXT USE!

If all of this is just TOO MUCH for you to do before using your favorite sex toy.....Just put a Damn Condom over it and then no fecal matter ever comes into contact with the toy.. Problem solved.

A good antibacterial hand soap should work great.  I like the new foaming soap in the pump.  Great advice so far.  Play clean and clean up right after.  You might also consider using condoms over your butt toys.  Clean up is really fast and easy that way.

if you buy good quality toys, you can wash them in a 10 percent bleach.  I wash my toys with toy cleaner, then in the 10 percent bleach..I do not soak them..just wash them, and rinse them very well.  I also think that toys are PERSONAL and should only be used by the owner.  I tell my subs they must furnish their own anal toys.  I also use condoms on the anal toys.

OK, don't forget to dust them ... why?

I agree about silicone, glass, or stainless steel. I never used glass or stainless steel, but good silicone toys can be sterilized in boiling water.

I switched to a glass plug.  Something to consider is it's much heavier than my other one.

Maybe dusting was suggested for toys that are left out.  Mine are put away right after washing, but I'll sometimes rinse them off before using them, depending on the toy.

i don't know but i imagine the dusting with powder is to absorb any dampness and make sure they are completely dry. It will stop them going smelly, which they would do if put away damp.

funnily enough, I read "ear plugs" at first and just had to come read this... *grin*

if it smells funny, get rid of it, buy something new...

the dishwasher is a great place to clean toys... open mine and you'll find 'em on the top shelf...

but the best thing to do is use condoms on all toys.. its saves them and then when you do wash them (you still should) they really are very clean...

BARRIERS are your friends!

oh and I store them usually wrapped in something.. cling wrap.. but I've actually found glad press and seal best...

I agree with the above poster. The dishwasher works great. Keep in mind though that the drying cycle on some dishwashers can get Really hot.

About Dusting.

It is a Practice I have always used after having an issue where I was keeping many toys together and because they were not completely dry they Molded and started to deteriorate. When I called the Manufacturer the said to dust them with Talc or Baby Powder to keep this from happening again.

I have noticed that by dusting them they don't stick to the plastic and when washed they just Feel clean.

It is a personal Preference mind you.

I happen to find it forces me to be extra clean.

As was said previously, the dishwasher is a great place to clean toys. But again with the good advice of purchasing quality toys. Cheap ones will deteriorate or even melt in the dishwasher. Many toy manufacturers will put a dishwasher safe note on the label (like anyone reads those). If you really like the particular toy you're having trouble with and do not want to discard it and buying a new one is not an option, consider contacting the manufacturer and see what they say is a good way to clean the toy. Most are very willing to help and have websites.

If you're going to clean sex toys in the dishwasher, you'll need to find a machine detergent that has no abrasives in it. The same stuff that makes the glasses come out all sparkly will slowly chew up the softer surfaces of the toys. Sink type detergents produce to many suds, and unless you want to have a foam party in the kitchen shouldn't be used.

What would clean "smell" like to you?  The scent of rubber?  As far as i'm concerned, and i am very sensitive to smells and a little bit of a 'clean freak' but not to the O-C level, i much prefer a natural scent of my own body over the smell of perfumes or deoderants or detergents or cleansers or rubber.

What i do is wash the plugs and eggs as soon as they are removed from my body, using just plain old, unscented hand soap and warm water, rubbing them into a frothy, foamy lather and making sure i get into all the crevices and then i rinse them thoroughly with warm water and dry them with a clean towel, let them airdry on the towel for awhile and then put them back in their storage box until the next lovely time i get to feel them inside me again, knowing that they are clean and ready to use at any time.

Edited to add:  Since i have sensitive skin and am highly allergic to certain soaps, detergents, and lotions, i have to be very careful about what i use to wash anything that touches my skin.  Also, for me, there is no way that i would ever consider putting things that i cherish into the dishwasher to get them clean.  i love rubbing the soap over them and feeling them in my hands and taking great care with them.  That's just me.

I read an article a couple of months back.  The new foaming soap has something like 2 tablespoons of actual soap, the rest is water.  I think it is better to go with the old fashioned type of soap.  Liquid.

I’m not clear on why they need to “smell” clean and a good long slave licking and sucking will do wonders.

Enjoy your wonder-filled day

Read Stell of Utah's reply, then read it again....
Why? Even thought the other posts are helpful, they just don't cut it (you can wash, bleach, boil a toy all you want, but if the material it is made off is sub par ingredients, than you are wasting your time)
Trust me, as well as Steels advice.

Sure, never buy any insertible made from jelly. If you do have one, throw it the hell away and replace it with silicone.
