Ok; can I please change my vote?
I voted for no because I was thinking about *post* capping, which would obviously affect me, and not in a positive way...
But then I realized what it was actually about, and I agree more than you will ever know!
PLEASE let me change my vote?!!!!

I/i grant Y/you permissions to change Y/your vote

now I/i am going to wash M/my hands to get the nasty S/slashy germs off of T/them

i don't think there needs to a cap on the numbers of threads -- posts -- Ops -- that a member can post per day.  If a member's posts are irritating, just put T/them on "block"; which i guess is now known as "hide".

LOL

You guys are freakin' hilarious!

YHMY; she doesn't want to put a cap on how many posts one can make per day, but rather how many threads.

I concur with that suggestion.

I find that those with the most amount of post's, have the least to say. This is sort of like talk radio, in talk radio only a fraction of 1% of the listeners call in. It is similar here, I think that 90% of the posts are created by 1% of the members. However, if not for these folks, there would not be any posts or threads.

If it becomes a problem, limiting poeple to one thread a day, is acceptable. There should not be a limit on the amount of post's a person can make.

In response to the original post of this thread, suggesting a 'cap' on the number of threads a person can create in a single day:

I don't see the point to this, at all.  If the subject of a thread doesn't interest you, don't read it.

[Edited to clarify that I'm responding to the topic of the thread.]

edited due to confusion...*g*

Yeah, but really, some *do* take it much too far, and it makes it hard to find the 'real' threads...

May I reiterate and add: You are the coolest person

There are some that give us blessed silence for months, then (not sure why, whether voluntary or involuntary, lol) come back from wherever was occupying them, and think that if they come up with the most inane of threads, that if they start as many as possible, coupled with the fact they try to make their posts look VERY unique, will make everyone know they are back.  Also....it's because they have nothing better to do atm, and want to make sure that everyone is paying attention to them.......just a possibility yanno

ORIGINAL: kc692
The only problem with that idea would be, when T/they irritated most people, and if those people wanted to hide the unique appearance of those posters posts, there would be N/no O/one left to answer that poster.................

(hey, wait a minute where is that button again? That's not necessarily a bad idea!!)

No where in my OP did I convey I was overly concerned or worried, I visit and participate in this site b/c I enjoy it, as does everyone else. My actual question was in direction relation to having to ream through page after page of visually painful and vacuous chunterings. Cheers for participating and speaking out of your arse.

yes it's unreasonable to  how many posts a poster makes in a day. you should have more to worry about than posts on a message board

I completely support thread-capping. I think if you need to start more than.... 10 threads a day, you need to hang out on several different boards. Give folks a chance a chance to answer and, for crying out loud, actually consider what they said instead of ignoring them!

I vote for yet another icon, one that simulates an echo...

Anyone in there... in there....in there...there...

My son has dyslexia, he was given a tip by his tutors that to make something 'stand out' and grab his attention more, it also works well for people with ADHD, that they should highlight words, sentences and paragraphs in bold RED. Other lurid colours seem to work just as well!

how about if we just try to ignore for a few days like we did the ever "unhealthy one", a while back?  seemed to work then, it might work now?

But that would be cruel, just plain cruel (add funny voice)... besides, thread capping would avoid having to resort to doing that and it's hard to ignore (mind you, that was until I was helped to discover the hide button) someone when they're 'in your face'. The thing is, I don't even mind a lot of their threads, that isn't my complaint, it's the fact there are so many started by a single (not referring to marital status) person in a twenty-four hour period. Thread capping is not to be confused with post capping.
