It is very scary to think of, Soul. It's amazing how we compensate when living with something like that and I fully understand why you opted not to have the surgery. The pain I could deal with, we learn ways of coping and I'd just learn to block it out rather than numb myself with medication to help with that process. But the deterioration was such that if I walked on it one day, I couldn't the next, so it needed to be done regardless... nothing ventured and all that. If it isn't a success thereafter I'll be on disability for a while, BUT, refuse to allow it to disable me entirely, I'll just have to make adjustments to my life here/there. What's funny is that prior to seeing this specialist the one I was sent to had no grasp on reality and stated to me, "I would just accept it, if I were you, what about getting a job where you can put your feet up while working?" After laughing hysterically for a minute, I asked for a referral to someone who did specialise in sports related injuries of this kind (altho mine was gotten as a result of walking home from the local pub and treading awkwardly on a broken pavement lol).
