I recommend Nora Roberts romances, or Catherine COulter....
Actually, the Catherine Coulter "FBI" series (with Dillon and Savich) are a guilty pleasure as are the Laurell K. Hamilton "Anita Blake-Vampire Hunter" books.  Dean Koontz and Stephen King are favorites as is Caleb Carr (The Alienist).  Just finished reading the "Frankenstein" trilogy by Koontz.




I'm not so hot on the FBI series.  DOnt DISLIKE them, btu I prefer (for instance) the Sherbrooke series.  She is a pro at research into English history (she has a degree in that, IIRC), so her stories (to me) are fun to read while getting a history lesson :)
