He classifies it as a "Fable-Fantasy" in his short fiction compendium, Maps in a Mirror. Unfortunatly it is not one that he has for free on his Hatrack website. In his afterward he does say that he considers it one of his best. It was originally published in Omni in March, 1979, if that helps your search any. We have discussed home schooling extensively, as I am not all that fond of the public school system. I am not worried about witchcraft in the Harry Potter stories (although I do think that parents need to be careful about the age children read each of the stories, the later ones are pretty dark) and I am pretty sure that it is not religion behind the reason my cousin home schools. My personal thoughts on her reasons are not very kind. I can understand a reading teacher guiding children to appropriate books, but yes, I think that censorship is very strange. Sure, there may be some extra work needed to explain concepts and such, but I do not think that avoiding issues actually helps any.
