Morning all :) The short people in my house have decided it is time for new halloween decorations. You DON'T want to know how much I've spent. So, this morning the princess and I are going scrounging through all the old costumes and taking them in for some cash. I have an original Disney Capt Jack that cost be 80 bucks, so I should get a few dollars out of it.

Now, if only I had someplace to rid myself of all these millions of nursing uniforms ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Actually, while I was at the M's she taught me how to can that was really a wonderful experience! Canning is pretty easy, just time consuming. But soooo worth it. Anyway, what a fun thing... going to the orchard and the pumpkin patch! Can we all come with you Miss Aylee?

Sure you can come along. If you want to can stuff I have LOTS of canning jars. I usually just dehydrate some of the apples, keep a few for eating, and make a pie or apple bread or something. Perhaps this year I will find something more creative. I can picture what I am thinking of. . . but I have no idea what the name is.

Although. . . now that you mention it. . . perhaps I will can some apple pie filling.

We can even go on the hay-wagon ride at the pumpkin patch if you want to. LOL

Ya know. . . growing up. . . my mom MADE our costumes. My favorite was the green M&M she made for herself for work one year.

My mother totally forgot about Halloween one year. So we all went as Cubist paintings, extra eyes painted on our face and such.

I need to make apple butter but I am going to order the gadget for the mixer so I don't have to strain the skins in a food mill.

I was going to make a beef soup since there's a tiny bit of cooked brisket in the fridge. But it's easy enough to make matzo balls also.

Yeah, been there done that.....everytime I get the flu shot, I get deathly ill....the first time I got it, I ended up in the hospital with pnemonia.....I'd never had any health problems before that, as far as respiratory infections....since then, I've had pnemonia 3 times! And on another note, I'm positive that ALL of your co-workers thank you for NOT coming in sick...why do people DO that?????? Oh yeah, cuz they burn their sick time while they are healthy and then come in and infect everyone else.

mmmmmm...all this talk of freshly picked apples, and canning and making stuff with them is making my mouth water......when I was younger, my mom would can everything and anything in the fall....our house used to smell sooooo good....well, unless she was doing sweet pickles....OMG!!!!...that smell got into everything! I can remember the crocks sitting on the floor in the house. And she'd do up about 25 bushels of tomatoes, both as tomatoes and sauce....OMG...her sauce was to die for! And she'd do all of the local fruits, plums, peached, pears, strawberries, apples, and corn, beans, peas, dilly beans, etc......I really wish I'd paid a little more attention to how she did everything.

And I'm channeling Holly again.....I'm making a pot of chicken soup the old fashioned way...on the stove.....and went to check it, grabbed the handle on top, and immediately dropped it....HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!!! I have the potholder out now, on top of the handle......

Ohhhh Celeste - love the cubist painting idea. I always like to go as a concept - I was a freudian slip one year, the difference between night and day another year. At the hospital, we all dressed up in theme costumes. They say to me, "sunshine, do you have any redneck clothes? We're gonna go as rednecks." I say, "Honey, ALL my clothes are redneck clothes."

I actually started talking about "white trash" clothes and went into rounds with a white trash bag over my clothes. I was laughing so hard, I fell down and couldn't get up. The doctor, this wonderfully, elegant, kind man (Egyptian - stunning accent. I'd listen to him read the phone book). tells the new residents "Sunshine will teach you more about people with one action than a thousand words."

Oooo... Dang, I wonder if I can do a costume for DV and Fox's wedding. oooooo...

Hi and good night folks.

I have some awful shifts ahead of me and can't wait until thursday approaches as I sleep at work tomorrow then I face a bitch from a daycenter I tend to clash with (which is kind of my morning start on Monday morning...I can't stand her attitude...and I am not the best in pulling myself together hard...however considering whom I am bringing there on that day it should be ok...but after all...who knows

don't rely on it) then I waste some time until I go to a late shift on that day and get back home at some point towards midnight followed by uni...where then after uni I take the train down south and stay in a hotel in a city where I attend a conference on wednesday...following which...I go to a nightshift following which I then go to placement again thursday morning *yawn*. This is just a long serie of many things I don't like...don't fancy that much sleeping at work, wasting time in dirty trains, sleeping in hotels where you don't know what others have done before in that room and after wasting time in train again off to work again at night....just want it to be thursday afternoon yet and crawl into my bed...and whilst I was just thinking that I might have off a day at that weekend I just checked it and nope...don't have it, another week to go for a day off

Apart from that whilst my cold is almost gone the remaining bits and pieces from it is now still sitting in my ear *joy* can't say that this is much better....on the plus side at least my tongue is fine again which was horrid painful for a few days.

And on the furry front I have to start now to put my toilet paper out of reach

My kitten can't let it it be to fight with it (she isn't brave enough to target my pepper girl, nope, she fights against my innocent toilet roll and tends to tear it in tiny bits and pieces

). And today when I got home the whole roll was lieing undone all over the floor....what a nutter

Sunshine, the ex and I went as fool's gold (me) and the gold miner to a party one year. I had a metallic gold top and made a skirt out of gold wrapping paper, he just wore his worn out jeans, flannel shirt and work books.

Soul, the classic canning bible is Ball's Blue Book, sold at all farm shops where you buy the cans. Step by step how to and recipes.

And Phoenix, keep an eye on that ear. I'm on the nastiest possible antibiotics to treat mine because I let it get really bad before going to the doctor.
