Bear.....that makes you the first!

Lordy......Angel is probably going nuts, I know Vincent is stressed....he made a trip to NY (watertown) with his boss, and he's STILL THERE!  They got more work than they thought they would, and he's going to help his boss get set up tomorrow.  My sister and neice are driving to Watertown to get him, and he's riding back to Illinois, and will arrive on Friday morning sometime.  I knew that this would happen!  But we'll get him there......fortunately, pretty much everything is done on his side....it's the girls that have to still do all their primping...they are getting their hair and nails done Saturday morning before the wedding.  I didn't know this, but they have 17 people in their wedding party!  A big one!

Aylee, I'll get a bottle before I leave....I hung it on a hanger while it was still slightly damp, and the wrinkles are gone, but I have to at least fold it to get it there...it's too long to lay in the backseat of the car, and with my luck, I'd drop something on it.  It just looked really crisp pressed from the company.  Of course, it'll probably go limp in the humidity anyway......{sigh}.  I'm taking an iron anyway to touch it up if needed.

Take the bottle with you to take care of any wrinkles that you get in the car on the way from the hotel to the ceremony. Yep, yep.

It is some great stuff. Several years ago when my mom and grandma came to visit Butterhead (at all of a month old) we were taking her down to have pictures done. I had her little hot pink outfit that I pulled out and the little one-inch ruffle was just a wrinkly wadded mess. I looked at it and said, "I am not ironing something that small!" My grandma started to protest as I walked out of the room and then came back with the Downey. She was rather amazed when I sprayed, pulled, and straightened and viola! Looked great. She wanted to know what it was and where I bought it. LOL

I dislike ironing Butterhead's play dresses just so that she can go get them dirty. My mom irons EVERYTHING. Yes, even T-shirts. I will iron things, but I tend to do it all at once. I hate doing it a piece here and a piece there.

I find that the steamy shower trick works well also. Except with the humidity here, it takes so long to dry. There is also the damp washcloth in the dryer trick for getting out wrinkles.

I dread with Butterhead gets a pleated skirt. We always made my dad iron those. He was in the Navy. He could iron pleats like nobodies business.

I hope that everything with the wedding goes well and that everyone is at their assigned place when it starts!

CONGRATS!

Just an added suggestion, we dont have heat and humidity in the UK, if you roll clothes rather than fold them, they crease less.

DesFIP -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (6/25/2011 10:29:03 AM)

They crease less rolled here with the humidity also. But less isn't the same as looking perfect.

I am accepting congratulations. The teen graduated high school last night. And until we got the program, we didn't know if he had finally passed the math Regents as we were afraid to look. Took four tries but he did, giving him an advanced Regents diploma. Thank God.

calamitysandra -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (6/25/2011 12:15:55 PM)

Yay! Job well done for him, and for you, too.
Last time for you in that special circus?

Congratulations to him, the Regents tests in NY are TOUGH! Glad to see his persistance pay off! Now all you have to do is worry for a few more years through his Bachelors degree, and who knows you might be off the hook! As my son looks at grad schools and wondering how much Dad is willing to help pay for!

Well you know I just had to make a comment  :)

DesFIP -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (6/26/2011 6:32:22 AM)

My daughter has decided for the moment against getting her PhD but she is looking at a Master's. The teen is thinking about pre-law and then law school. They won't be out of here for good for years!

GreedyTop -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (6/26/2011 7:06:38 AM)

I hate that Holly and Potty arent here as often *sigh*

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (6/27/2011 8:39:54 AM)

Celeste, that's great news!  Those Regent's exams were a buggoboo when I took them......*shudder*!

Well, I'm officially a mother in law!  Just got home from Illinois.....14 hours.....but it was cheaper than flying!  The wedding was very nice.....even tho there were a few glitches....after everything else, why not?  They had a runner for Angel to walk down the aisle on, and no one thought to put it down before the ceremony actually started.  Junior started to unroll it, but.....first, it wouldn't unroll right, and it pulled up from the floor...but it didn't matter anyway, because Angel had already started down the aisle!  OOPS!  So, the photographer grabbed it real quick and got it out of the way.

Then during the exchanging of the vows, the Father asked Vincent if he would take Angel as his lawfully wedded husband.......I think he did it jokingly, because both of the kids were so stressed out, it broke up the tension.  But I was asked several times if I'd seen the look on his face when the father said that.....I didn't because I didn't have a good angle, and I was shooting pics anyway.  Which led to another glitch....I had my 35mm and my digital....but I'm partial to film, because I can shoot pics in succession w/o having to wait for the camera.....anyway, I loaded the first roll, got some pics of the totally empty church, the unity candle unlit/unburnt, a couple of the church's stained glass windows that were just too pretty.  When the roll was done, I'd started rewinding it into the canister, but then the girls got to the church, and I put the camera down in mid-roll.  When I came back, I finished rolling it up....or so I thought.....I opened the back of the camera and there was film....dammit!  It was the beginning of the roll, so it was the empty church, but still, I took the pics that way for a reason.

So, we get thru the ceremony, during which I had loaded the 35mm again.  When it came time for everyone to walk back down the aisle, I was up the the end w/the photographer, and got individual shots of everyone coming down.  um...NOT!  I happened to look down at the film counter, and it was at 35 pics....I only had 24 pic rolls......the film caught just enough to give me tension, but didn't feed....so I lost those pics.......those were ceremony pics, but there were plenty of other cameras there.

At least the weather held long enough for the party to go out  to the farm and get their pics taken there in addition to the ones at the church.  Those should be interesting......all those fancy clothes lined up on a huge John Deere tractor!

I had wondered how it was going to be to see all of the ex's family again, if it was going to awkward or anything like that.  I haven't seem then since we were divorced in '88.  IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!  I didn't recognize any of them but his parent's and grandma....the kids had grown so much.....I actually spent 2 hours or so talking to my ex's brother, and didn't even know it!  Finally, I asked his mom who the guy in the blue shirt was.....She said "Kurt", and I about died!  No WAY!!!!  She thought it was hilarious!  Granted, it's been 20 + years, but they've all changed so much, and we didn't see alot of them because we were still military, and moved alot.  This was also the first time that mine and my ex's parents actually met......we never got it together enough to have them meet while we were still married.  That was a shame, because they hit it off like a house afire!

I did real good about not bawling until the mother/son dance.....and that was a tap-out basis, since Vincent has two moms.  Being there, dancing with him was when it hit me.......he's all grown up with a wife of his own......my baaaaaaayyyy-beeeeee!!!!!

Angel was beautiful......the dress she ended up with wasn't the same one she posted on FB, so I hadn't seen it.  It was gorgeous.  She absolutely sparkled the whole day.  She was still stressed, so much so that one of her bridesmaids took her phone away from her so she didn't have to deal with her family and their stupidity.  Long story short, they are a piece of work.  She didn't even know if they'd be there until they finally showed up.  Then the stepdad got all pissy because he wasn't walking her down the aisle.  He walked out.  Dickhead.  But he didn't come to rehearsal, and he was wearing just a shirt and khaki pants.....like he'd walk her down the aisle wearing that!  Instead, she had a couple that are like a second set of parents, and she asked him to give her away.  They kept doing and saying crap to her throught the reception too....you'd think that for one fricking day, they could act like rational adults, instead of trailer trash.

I've got some really cool candids...I walked around sneaking up on people alot.  As far as I know. no one snuck up on me...woo-hoo!  My dress fit pretty good, I ironed it, and it pulled the hemline down, I almost fell over in the church getting pics......altho, that would've fit right in with the whole spirit of the week and all!  :)  But I stlil look fat!  :(  I'm hoping if I wash it in hot water, it will shrink up right.  I'd put some pics on my profile here, but I think that violates the TOS!  The flower girl was so precious!  At one point during the ceremony, they girls and guys moved back to the little wall in front of hte pews, and the little girl was so bored that she stood there with her chin in her hand......I missed it because I was shooting the candle lighting part, but my sister got it on video.  And everytime I tried to get the ring bearer twirling the pillow, he's see me and stop doing it.  I think they were both about 5, so you know that they just wanted to be done!  I almost cought the little girl in a yawn, but she stopped and hammed for the camera!

All in all, it was a great day, everyone had fun, and .....{sigh}....my baby is all grown up !!!!!!!

Wolf2Bear -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (6/27/2011 10:11:47 AM)

Glad ya had a good time soul. One question tho...so this time next year we can start congratulating you on being a gramma????    [8D]

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (6/27/2011 3:29:53 PM)

Lord, I hope not, Bear!  I'm not old enuf for that yet!

But I think they have both figured out that they want to be a bit more settled before they settled down.  Thye  may have a major location change/move in the future, Angel wants to finish school, Vincent is apprenticing as a farrier, so they have pretty full plates right now.  They are both young yet, and they should have time to enjoy their new status of husband and wife!

I have posted pics on my FB page, if anyone wants to see them.  Had to do them in batches, too many pics!

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (6/27/2011 4:19:50 PM)
