Mom had the same system when she was working Nursery before she retired.  As far as I know, no incidents, no accidents.  Maybe an alarm or 2 when transporting a preemie by helicopter to Dallas.

I am glad that Roscoe is home.  I just need to finish up the afghan (did booties and a cap) and I will ship it on the 2nd.  Running short of funds until my check comes in.

Ahhhh...the joys of being on disability...

Lizard and I have a con to do on New Years Eve....hope I get more people to crash in our room that will pay for it.

Actually Aylee, he has made that claim in a couple of threads dealing with government control.  Various statements concerning RFID chips in people etc.  You know, the basic paranoid conspiracy stuff.

There has been some experiments with tagging children's backpacks, especially for the bus systems. But no, no RFIDs have been placed in my children.

I have not seen him either. Perhaps something happened with his neighbor or someone found his silver stash?

The hospital I worked at in Arizona had the same system...right down to calling a Code Pink....however, if theirs was like ours, we had false alarms all over the place, and no real alerts...which is a good thing! But it's amazing how many of those things go out the door in laundry bins, or nurse's pockets! But the system worked very well, once the baby got far enough to set off the alarm, the elevators and doors to the stairs would lock down, so there's no way to actually leave the floor.

Tho it's a real sad state of affairs when we have to do this to protect a baby.

Yes, code pinks get called often. Either tag issues or alarm practice.

The code colors are something like this:

Code Brown. Depending on which region of the country the hospital is located brown can have a few meanings. The most common meaning is a severe weather watch. While in Florida a code brown is usually used when calling for an autopsy.

Code Amber. Much like an Amber alert this is called when a child goes missing inside of the hospital and is suspected of being abducted by another person.

Code Black is used to alert hospital members of mass casualties that are caused by an epidemic or threat to the public. This warns the hospital to get ready for a large amount of injured and to take the proper precautions when needed.

Code Blue is the most commonly used color code in hospitals all over the country. This is called when a patient requires immediate life saving assistance. Most often caused by cardiac arrest. A code blue requires that all free employees respond to the code.

Code Green is used to let people know that an evacuation is necessary. A green triage internal indicates that the disaster is in the hospital while a green triage external stands for an outside emergency that is cause for an evacuation.

Code Gray means that a violent but unarmed person is on the loose in the hospital. It is often used when a mentally unstable patient has stopped taking their medication or when a person has a psychotic break.

Code Pink has two meetings depending on where you are working. One meaning is an infant or small child abduction has occurred in the hospital. The second meaning of pink is used to warn the staff of biohazardous contamination.

Code Red again can have dual meanings. The first is often to indicate a fire has broken out somewhere in the building. While the second is announced to let staff know that a burn patient is coming into the hospital and requires immediate medical attention.

Code White is most often used for pediatric medical emergency. It can also be used to signify a utility or power outage.

Code Yellow indicates a bomb threat in the hospital. This lets the staff know that the bomb safety plan has been inacted.

Code Orange is used when a patients health is rapidly declining.

Code Silver informs the hospital that an armed person is in the hospital and there is a possible hostage situation.

I have also heard things like "Paging Dr. Burns" for aburn victim or "Paging Dr. Apgar" for a baby problem.

I too have to wonder at just how many babies have been stolen from a hospital that it has its own code and such extensive security.

My second cousin is expecting a baby in February so I have to make a layette for him.  I remember when I made one for his birth.  Mom saw my cache of baby yarn and thinks it is the perfect shade (Bernat Spearmint Candy).  I got  a few more shades in the closet of doom.

I just got 4 pounds of plum heather from Caron Simply Soft.  It is either going to be an afghan for another aunt, a shawl or a sweater.  Can't decide yet.

I have to get some earth tones for another aunt.  Her couch is brown...

Sorry, caffeine kicking in....LOL!

His layette can wait until December.  I got hooded scarves to crochet up and they are half way done for the kids.  Mom does not know it but I am getting her a certificate for a manicure/pedicure.  She deserves a wee bit of luxury this season.

Well, in the past, there were quite a few babies stolen out of hospitals, but since pretty much all of them have some sort of system in place, it's rare these days. I know when I had my son, I knew where he was every second....the only time he was out of my actual sight was when he was under the lights for his jaundice. And we were in a military hospital...not that that really makes a difference, it's just as easy to walk into one as it is anywhere else. And the military hospitals may NOT have the alarm systems in place. In fact, if they did, I'd be very surprised.

It's just great news that everyone's doing well! Any new pics of the little nipper? Has Butterhead dressed him yet? You know we want to see pics of Roscoe the first time Butterhead does that!

They are experimenting with microchipping the sneakers of Alzheimer patients so that if found, they can be identified. But just like with animals, the chips have to be within 18" of a reader so that doesn't help you find someone who has wandered off. And since it really isn't that common, you have to hope the police know to have the shoes brought to the nearest vet for reading.

over here, they also have a device like a mobile phone that has GPS activated - as long as there are towers around, the person can be picked up on it. there's also a speaker embedded, so that once found, the person can be talked to, guided, reassured. very expensive to buy, and with a monthly fee as well. but what price peace of mind?

Nah, I want GPS instead. I know who I am and whom I belong to, it's where I am that I have trouble with.

I am not an s-type, but some sort of GPS system would be great. Maybe one that could be stuck to the back of my hand like those communicators on Babylon 5.

Or maybe a Whitestar or TARDIS of my own. That could work as well.

I think I'm stoned, no I know I am.   Thanks to the doc at emerg for prescribing morphine.  It still hurts like a mother, but I don't give a rat's ass.  I may regret that in the morning, but not now.

Aylee, I would suggest you google "Hammer's Slammers" and check out the vehicles in the series of books.

I would want a translight warship/transport that could carry a reinforced division of those vehicles along with support forces including arty, infantry, supply, replacements and training cadre.

I am sure that there is a market in the interstellar community for mercs.

ru-roh.....what'd ya do to yourself, Poohbear?

Fell down a flight of a metal fire escape 2 wks ago.  Bounced down on my arse about 10 steps.  E.R. the next morning, told I had a broken tailbone, still can't sit down for longer than 2 minutes or so.  Doc from that E.R. calls me 2 days ago and leaves a msg that there's a problem with my x-ray, after re-examining it I was told there was a "problem" with my lower lumbar section in addition to the break.

Go to E.R. here in town today, they're smart, do a cat-scan.  Doctor pulls me aside, says there's no break, there never was one and there's nothing wrong with lower back or pelvis.  Look of disbelief on my face musta been priceless.  But he was nice enough to forget about the damned T3s which didn't do a damn thing, and gave me a scrip for 5mg morphine.  The cutest tiny little pale green pills ya ever seen.  And boy, I may still hurt, but I'm so high I don't really care.

And since I couldn't sit down, was pacing around holding my lower back.  No bra on, too hard to put on and hurts to wear for now, so with buddah belly I have, elderly patient's wife asks me if I'm in labor, looking on as if I'm gonna drop one right there on the floor in front of her.  Told her no, broken tailbone (still thought it was at the time).  Didn't occur to me til later when texting a friend and telling her about it that I realized how absurd it was and kinda insulting to be asked if I was preggo.  FFS, not unless it's an immaculate conception folks.  And my dad has already said that I would most definitely not be the next in line for that.  LMAO

Ouch Pooh Bear!!!!! That sounds like something I'd do! Actually, I have, but it was only a couple of stairs. Glad there's nothing broken, but I can sorta feel your pain. I screwed up my back in the Army, and it flares up on me sometimes. No pwetty green pills for it tho.........I just swallow a handful of Ibuprofen. But I don't know....I got morphine in my IV when I had appendicitis....didn't really do much.....I didn't even fall asleep! Took the edge off the pain, but there really wasn't that much to begin with.

And I DEFINITELY know about the preggers remark....I was at a spa getting a facial, and the girl there made a comment about how my skin was in pretty good shape for being pregnant......some women break out.....and this was about the time that my son was 15. I just said something about how it never happened to me, and let the poor girl slide....I could tell she was mortified! I had on jersey knit shorts and a tank tunic, I like my tops a little bigger with room to move. And yep, I still wear the top and the shorts!
