Tis funny and sad and amazing how quickly they grow...I can remember the little girl who put her arms around Daddy's neck when she broke her leg and bit her lip as I carried her down the sidewalk to the van. When I told her...gently...not to bite her lip so hard, she said in THAT voice: "but Daddy...I'm a big girl and shouldn't cry". That same voice came through on Tuesday when she called me from the hospital where they airlifted my ex to and the doctor had just gotten through telling her that her mother has had several small, undiagnosed heart attacks and that her coronary arterial circulation is shot. I told her the same thing I told her then, while trying not to let my own emotions about hearing her so vulnerable out: "honey...you can cry. Big people do it all the time when it is for the right reasons."

In the case of the LoudOne it's merely a defense mechanism. He figures that if he can fend for himself, he'll be ALOT SAFER!!

Thanks holly, virgin, pure.

Because of the bitterness of the divorce and what my ex did to me afterwards, I don't have any love left for her other than as the mother of my children. But...I do care about what is happening to my girls' hearts right now and so I am being there for them because, as many times as I may have thought it in moments of anger over one more outrageous story about me/problem to deal with, I really have never wanted the ex to just die.

She's doing O.K.... She told me last night that she really just wanted to crawl up on Daddy's lap for awhile and have me hold her because she feels safe in my arms. My youngest one just wants to stand with Daddy's arms around her and my chin on top of her head...she feels cocooned that way.
