Asherdelampyr -> Vasectomy (6/5/2008 8:35:54 AM)

So, I am looking at getting a vasectomy, and I wanted to hear from other people that had the procedure done/medical types that know... what are the risks, what kind of things should I keep in mind? Any advice would be most appreciated

i haven't had one lol, but my ex did...he had to use a medicinal wash for a few days before, went in for the procedure one afternoon, was back to work the next day.  he used the medicinal wash for a week after and that was it.  he said it was painless and it seems he healed very quickly.

cool

my biggest concerns are the risk involved, and the lack of sex (Im 21, almost 22, lets just say my sex drive is in full swing :P)

My understanding is that your balls will swell to the size of baseballs and hurt for a few days.  Oh, and be careful to follow the instructions about having your output checked to make sure the vasectomy takes.  I don't know if a physician will do an elective vasectomy on a man your age, have you checked on that?

christine1 -> RE: Vasectomy (6/5/2008 9:57:41 AM)

it didn't affect his drive at all, in fact it made it a little "more so" because he wasnt' worried about the repurcussions....[;)]

I have an ace in the hole on that one... a doc my ma used to work for, that knows my medical history (both physical and mental) has said that he understands my reasons for it, and is more than willing, the biggest setback will be if my insurance wont cover it [:D]
I will definately have it checked to make sure it takes...

It can take weeks, evidently, before the swimmers are rendered swimmerless!

The man had one about three years ago and had some complications.  He was extremely sore for about two weeks after in one nut and it's taken almost the whole three years for pain during sex to disappear, but it finally has.  Not quite sure exactly what went wrong, but we seem to be past that hump.  Even with the pain it didn't diminish his sex drive in any way.  In fact it increased it as that fear of pregnancy went away.  Most people have no complications for the most part and recover very quickly.  Even with those complications he said he would do it again.

There was a little pain afterward, but nothing like I've had to work with after a bad parachute jump or a hand to hand workout.  You shouldn't even need a prescription level pain killer.

I was having sex (protected) with my wife two days after the procedure.  I didn't want to wait until the lab gave the all clear so I was doing a sperm count every morning.  Last of the little buggers vanished about a week in.  Used protection for another four days and then threw away the raincoats.

Once she was confident that all was safe my wife went nuts.  We usually had sex about four times a week.  For a while there it was 20 or so times.

After the divorce, I went back to condoms but there was a nice comforting feeling that I was shooting blanks.

sweet, I am feeling much more confident about this now

a friend of mine was claiming that it was as painful as breaking a bone... got me thinking back to shattering my kneecap in Basic, so I was a lil worried

Avoid a doctor with shaky hands...you wouldn't want a simple "snip" to be drowned out by an "ooops!".  [&:]

LMAO

mistoferin -> RE: Vasectomy (6/5/2008 10:13:48 AM)

A good friend of mine had one a few years back. He had it done right in the Dr.'s office. He went home and got a blow job that same afternoon. He said it was painless, other than the shot to numb the area.

rubberpet -> RE: Vasectomy (6/5/2008 10:17:34 AM)

Hey Asher, I'm not sure exactly of the risks and setbacks, but if it's something you feel you should do, go for it.  My cousin had it done and, as far as I know, he's perfectly fine.  Just do your research...best of luck on it, dude.  If you get it done, let me be the first to wish you a speedy and painless recovery.

Emperor1956 -> RE: Vasectomy (6/5/2008 10:21:08 AM)

Asher, you need to wear your best clothes to the docs on "the day".  If you don't have one, yet (being a man of tender years) I suggest a classic Armani suit (what are you about a 46 reg?).  Italian loafers, a silk shirt (open neck, but still lush - you don't seem like a coat and tie guy).  Then to get to the doctor's office, you need a limo.  Not some "girls night out" stretch Hummer crap - a classic.  Lincoln Town Car extended.  Or a Bentley.  Finally, you might enlist your entourage.

Because as the man outside the clinic said to me:  "Son, if you gonna BE impotent, you gotta LOOK impotent!"

Best of luck.

E.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Vasectomy (6/5/2008 10:23:11 AM)

I have a few good suits, but nothing from Armani... :P

ETA Damnit E, Ive read that three times now and I still cant stop laughing

thanks rubberpet. Im definately going to do it, 1 um is enough for me :)

It's great having microscopes in the workplace, ain't it??? [:D]  I did the same thing with a couple of guys I dated, just to be sure.

For the record, most doctors order a "post-vasectomy" semen analysis at 6 weeks after the surgery and guys without access to microscopes should use protection until given the all-clear. It only takes one straggler.....

CalifChick -> RE: Vasectomy (6/5/2008 3:05:04 PM)

So Asher?  If you get the big V done, does Phin have to get one too?  After all, you collectively make up Phasher...

Cali

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Vasectomy (6/5/2008 3:05:50 PM)

I dont know... he could be the reproductive half I spose...
