DominantJenny -> Your best source for cheap, good rattan canes, please. (6/11/2008 8:15:19 AM)

I'm leaning towards here: http://www.cane-iac.com/
Anyone have any other recommendations?
Like the subject says, cheap and good...and low maintenance, too, please.

Cane-aic is a good place to get canes. Sir has bought several from there and has not had any trouble with them.

Depending on your climate- the back yard. I planted some, and I know it does well because I finagled the plants out of somebody elses yard. And a couple mature stalks to dry...
I'm on the Gulf Coast, it's warm here. Rattan is a nice ornamental. heh heh
is that like growing pot? To grow canes? There seems to be a symmetry.

I'm such a brat about what I get hit with.

The home depot garden center.  In the area where they have all the garden stake materials  they have rattan reeds.

If you are going to grow it..you are supposed to plant it within a plastic tub burried in the ground so that it doesn't grow past where you intially wanted it to... it is a weed and wants to stretch out wherever it can.

to the OP: I got my favorite cane from the hotel curtains. it is a dense very stiff wood sealed in a smooth white paint/sealer (makes it look almost like plastic) this wood is STRONG as hell...and after wraping some tape around the handle in a creative way...it is quite pretty to use and comfortable to hold.
price: free:) (it better have been free b/c if i had to pay I would only accept it in Black)

cheers
Skully

If it does...i'm coming to phx, just after making a quick pitstop in japan for a quality samurai sword... Don't worry though it grows back quickly;)
