This is one my Momma told me a long time ago...
once apon a time there were these two trees. A tall Birch tree and a tall beech tree and they would talk and debate for weeks and weeks. when one day they spotted a small sapling growing way down below. Behold says one it is a son of a Birch, nay my friend says the other tis a son of a beech.. and they debate this for days when one day a woodpecker flys by and lands in the tree tops. They asked him, Mr woodpecker, would you please fly down and ascertain if that young sapling is a son of a Birch or a son of a Beech? and he said Why yes I would be delighted, and off he flew down to the sapling and started pecking away.
and he pecked... and pecked... he pecked for hours and hours...
and when he was exhausted he flew back up to the tree tops, and lit a cigarette.
Mr Wood pecker asked one, is it a son of a Birch??? NOOOOooo says the woodpecker. AAAHHH then it be a son of a Beech!!! cried the other, NOOOOoooo says the woodpecker. Well if not a son of a Birch and not a son of a Beech, then pray tell us Mr Woodpecker what is it?
and he says, my friends, thats the best piece of Ash I have had my pecker in, in a long time.
