I find the guidelines on the profile editing page to be rather ambiguous. "No bestiality, prostitution or anything illegal". Well I think there needs to be some clarification. On the interest page there are selections for consuming bodily excretions, blood play, and other activities that could cause health problems. Yet there is no disclaimer beside these activities. I think this enters into a legal realm as well. You can't just draft a contract absolving you from any liability if your "partner" develops a blood disease as a result of the activity. I don't think it works that way. If you're the one in control you have an obligation to look out for the health and safety of the person who is giving up their will to you. You're also responsibly for monitoring the mental state of your compromised partner. To hold firm to the stance you're a "lifestyle dom/domme" and have blah blah experience doesn't give you liberty to take advantage of someone's ignorance.

I totally agree with enchanted. The profile choices for activities are very limited, ambiquous, and sound too extreme in some cases. I feel it would be much better just to state what you enjoy in your own words. I enjoy reading profiles that include activities of interest, not a pre set list.

To expand upon your own words proud sub I agree. Extremely vague in some areas. And the selections are too different for dommes, doms, subs switches etc. I don't understand the "relocate" option only for dommes lol To each his own I guess but play safe.

Flogging can cause health problems. Bondage can cause health problems. OTK spanking can cause health problems. Standing in the corner can cause health problems. It's all a matter of assessing risk, which is something we should each do for ourselves, imnsho.

As for legality, much of wiitwd do is illegal in most states and I'd suppose in other countries as well. You can't consent to assault in most places - just ask the folks at Cuffs who are dealing with that issue right now. Collarme, I assume, is simply covering their legal behinds.

I believe that bottoms are just as responsible for health and safety issues. They need to communicate any potential health issues to the top, and I think they should also be knowledgable about general anatomy and physiology and SM techniques in order to assess risks. We don't play in a vaccuum, and personal responsibility should be a fundamental aspect of wiitwd, imnsho.

Hi Sherri,
I fully understand that Collarme is covering their own butt. It's just I like the other poster hope they would define some of these categories more. I agree the submissive should be looking out for themself but that's not always the case. When a person is caught up in fantasy, when they're deeply involved mentally to the point nothing else matters their decision making skills to discern between right and wrong vanish. Many submissives already have mential issues. Standing in the corner and having your foot fall to sleep and be up all night long is not as severe as developing hepititus due to "no limitations".
play safe,

The problem is in not in what is decided safe, but in who should decide.

To use a metaphor, the line between being in handcuffs and having a probe in your urethra is arbitrary. What is important is who gets to hold the pencil to draw the arbitrary line.

I'd rather have the line drawn as far out as possible to be sure my kink is OK.[:)] (If it lets a few preverts in here, that is a price I'm willing to pay.[:D].)
