/start rant

It seems sometimes that i am the only one in my "world" that seems to be concerned about disease or even Thinks about it. Its RAMPANT in our society, our world, its over coming other societies. Its not anything to Not think about. Its deadly, its serious and it can ruin your WHOLE life. Imagine walking around with pussy looking things on your genitals. Not pleasant i imagine. Imagine the ramicfications of having herpes or Hep C or something else life long. Now i know alot of you out there are sexually active, But BE Carefule!!! Its ALL over THE place. Everyone is affected.

Its not a gay thing
its not a man thing
its not a woman thing

its a Human Race problem. It doesnt just affect one group of ppl. Disease doesnt know prejudice like the human race does. i have heard some of the stupidest things in my life time. Number one bing "AIDS is because of MEN, if women didnt have sex with them they wouldnt get AIDS" Umm hello? (knock knock) anyone home. Being purely lesbian does not omit you from disease. Ever heard of blood transfusions, shooting up? Or God forbid you came from a time where they didnt properly sterilize innoculations needles. Yes that does happen too. i lost my god mother, who was raised in argentina to Hep C because of the innoculation needles they used in her village. You say Argentina? Thats not America? But it happens. All over.

Condoms break

i JUST heard "well talk to the ppl first" as if Talking could some how tell me whats going with their genitals. They replied with "then ask them" WTF?? Half the population doesnt even know they have something much less will TELL YOU. i had a very good friend at 15 that had herpes that didnt say a word. Digusting, triffling isnt it? BUT ppl do it.

You cant look at some one and know if they have a disease or not. And you cant look at some one and say "well thats a GOOD person, nice wholesome girl/boy.. they wouldnt have anything" Crock of bull.

All it takes is ONE person. And when it comes to disease you ARE having sex with everyone they've had sex with.

You know in Africa, guys thought if they had sex with a virgin, it cured AIDS. God forbid some one lost their virginity to AIDS over here and never knew it.. some wholesome never been out her momma's skirts, doesnt even know infected with AIDS girl.

guess what?

It happens.

Body fluids folks. Disease is tearing apart out society and unless we get smarter then the disease, it will continue to do so, it will spread like wild fire as it has

Nursing mother? It can pass. Pregnant? it can pass.

Did anyone know you can give your baby thrusth from having a yeast infection while nursing?

Meds are getting better yes. One day we will have a cure. Yes, but it doesnt help the millions that have died and will die from AIDS or hep c. It doesnt help the millions that have all the other diseases.

Disease is just as hidden as our lifestyle. Its not talked about and mostly you dont know if some one is apart of it or not.

Wake up
and get smart. Read, learn. If you think you know all about it, go READ more anyways. Go learn more anyways. Cos chances are, from what i see, people just dont know. Educate yourselves, to save yourselves
Unless of course, you want to end up a statistic.

AIDS = 10 million infected 0 cured

Am i paranoid? HELL YES. Its the only way i'm gonna keep myself clean. Taint nothing to joke about, or ignore now is it. AND its not like you'd walk up and willingly swap fluids with some one that has something. So why do it unknowningly?

The next time YOU have sex with some one. Just imagine you are walking up and becoming "blood brothers" willingly with some one that is infected. You are literally saying "ok, you're infected, i dont care" Cos its excatly what you are doing when you have unprotected sex

(and you can thank the dweebs out there for this rant. As it seems i am the only one who thinks disease when i hear the word orgy)

Status: offline 		In general i agree with you, RiotGirl. i look around in sorrow and amazement at the changes in sexually transmitted diseases that have arisen during my lifetime. As a college girl, i worried about pregancy; knowing the worst disease i could contract was crabs (not exactly a disease i suppose).

Even in the '70's this may not have been true. There were rumors that service people were returning from Vietnam infected with an incurable strain of syphillus. It may have been an urban legend or it may have been true; i do know none of us used condoms. i had never even seen a condomn until after i was divorced.

Each one of us has to find a level of self-care with which they are comfortable. Some will require their potential partner "prove" he is disease-free through a blood test, but what if he had sex with an infected woman after the test but before the results?

Some of us will not make love with anyone who has been promiscous. The multiplity of partners ratches up the risk to which you are exposed too high for their comfort level.

Some of us will take the precautions mentioned above, and still require condomns..especially for anal sex.

The most careful may be infected. Sometimes people carry herpes but because they never had an outbreak themselves, they have no idea they may be infecting someone else. i think people tend to forget the misery and social loss associated with herpes.

i have heard news reports that AIDS is now a pandemic in the African continent, and that fully 50% of all adults are infected with HIV there. i find this country's response inadequate and uncaring...and short-sighted. If it is a pandemic in Africa today; won't it spread to other continents?

However, i feel (for me) that if i find my One i will be intimate with Him. i cannot consign myself to a lifetime of abstinence...my libido won't cooperate, LOL. Casual sex has never appealed to me, and so waiting to find Him is not a problem.

You're right. Sex these days really is playing a game of Russian Roulette. Knowing and trusting someone never hurts. Whatever it takes to get you to that trust level, whether it be using a condom, or viewing test results before being intimate, it's certaintly worth it.

Status: offline 		My ex husband had been my only sex partner since I was 18, and we separated when I was 43. We'd never used condoms, I always used the pill for contraception. It was a huge learning curve suddenly finding myself single after 23 years of marriage.

I bought condoms and carried them with me at all times, just in case. But never used them. I had three male partners in between my ex and Master. Two of them were married and one was happy to just have blowjobs. I was lucky, I didn't catch anything. I shudder now at the risks I took.

A few's years back here in So Cal we had one woman running rampant...infected almost 40 people with herpes. The warnings were out there yet no one listened.
Then when a prominent attorney fell over dead with Aids...nobody noticed that he had screwed half of the So Cal population either.

If you don't want to see something you just cannot force someone to see the danger's.

Status: offline 		Condoms do break....there is a chance....but if you drive down the street you take a chance....and i dont think you can look at every person's driving record and see where they are all at either.....same goes here....use good judgement and dont just jump in the sack.Master manages a on site swingers club and i see people fucking 5 days a week...condoms are a must here but normaly those who interact with each other have known the others a while...Life is a chance......Just use your brain...if they have screwed 1/2 the state...STAY AWAY lol......

Sexually transmitted diseases have always been with us, I remember watching a documentary not so long ago about a group of monks who were dying from a syphillus epidemic a thousand years ago. Life is inherently dangerous as are all it's aspects including sex.

I think it would be nice if everyone was to make themselves as aware as possible about the things they do. If they're having sex, then they should try and inform themselves about the risks and then make up their minds as to how much risk is acceptable to them. Unfortunately there are a lot of ignorant people around, but then we can't all know everything.

Recently I caught a gastric bug from Master and then because I'd taken the risk of travelling without insurance I took the risk to travel home while ill. I ended up in hospital at the end of the trip and developed Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) from the dehydration. I sort of figured out that I had DVT but ignored it as I really didn't know much about it. A month later when I finally went to the doctor and had an ultrasound I had clotting throughout my left leg, including one only an inch from the groin. They sent me straight to hospital and I've been on blood thinners ever since. What I didn't know, because I hadn't done my research is that clots in the upper leg have a 50% chance of escaping to become pulmonary embolisms, and pulmonary embolisms can kill you in about 10 minutes. So I was wandering around happily flirting with death and totally unknowingly.

I guess my point is there are many dangerous activities (read the stats on accidents in the bathroom), but we don't stop living out of fear, we don't stop having baths, crossing the roads, driving our cars etc (or having sex). You have done your research and taken your own decision about that activity but I don't think you can make that decision for other people, perhaps they've done the research but are quite happy to take the risk based on their assessment of their partners. Just as with kink, just because YOU wouldn't do it doesn't mean it's wrong for other people to do.

Status: offline 		some heartening news on this front. The FDA is considering letting the instant AIDs test be sold overthecounter. You swab the inside of your mouth with a q-tip and get the answer. Doesn't cover the entire situation, but one of the deadly ones.

Status: offline 		Cool beans to the OTC test. LOL i'd be right on it. Spending alot of time in Hong kong were swimming in the bay or drinking the water could give you Hep C, i have become one of those inane ppl who doesnt feel "clean" until i've been tested. Personally i like a every 6 months test!

You have for one, blow what i was saying out of proportion. i didnt say it was "wrong" i said it was "dumb" As for making decision for OTHER people, well that is very impossible. i cant force people on a message board to do anything. Well, i could probably get everyone to block me if i was so inclined, but that'd be about it. i do have a live and let live policy. Yet, i still have my own beliefs, my own sense of right and wrong. It is safe to say you dont agree with me and that is fine. More power to you for thinking on your own = )

As for the dangerous activities. i used to think that way when i was 16. why plan for the future, why save money, why do anything but live for today? As the freakish accidents arent so freakish anymore. People die every day from a variety of stuff. But as i have gotten older, i have realised that i NEED to PLAN for the future, because i am STILL here. That with an unmentionable, i should try and cut down my risks as much as possible. Heck, even for myself i should. i mean, i STILL want to be here right?

if people want to risk their lives with disease, because they enjoy being riskee LOL then atleast they can educate themselves. Might give them more idea's on the the most dangerous activities! (go have an orgy with people in africa, now thats risky!!)

REALLY, when it comes to people individually, do as you do. If they catch a disease, thats fine by me, i dont have to live their lives, they do. They've got to deal with it.

But when it comes to people universally, i do care and wish people would love, cherish, and care more about themselves.

If I blew what you said out of proportion then I apologise, but you did say yourself it was a rant and you shouted (using capitals) and typed in bold, so I think perhaps it's not surprising that I thought you were a tad ardent and so my reply was too. The paragraph above certainly led me to believe that you thought it was more than unwise of people to have unprotected sex. I certainly resent the implication that if I choose to have unprotected sex with someone that I somehow am less than caring, it's your judgement of people that I guess I resent. I'm not stupid, I have done research and I feel as though I'm perfectly capable of deciding if and when I have unprotected sex and it was your blanket statements about anyone who has unprotected sex, rather than about people who do so without assessment, care or testing which got me going.

Perhaps you should stop swimming in the bay, after all having a test every 6 months is not going to prevent you from catching anything. But I wouldn't call you stupid for doing it, you've obviously done your research and decided that the joy of swimming is worth the risk of catching Hep C, or any other nasty little bug.

And if they had sex the night before and contracted AIDS so could pass it on but it wouldn't show, this test would show the person as positive? Or if the person had JUST had sex and then got with another person say an hour later,,, the test would show as positive?

Somehow I don't think it's going to work for that early window of time.

Status: offline 		While i will agree that walking out of my home...driving down the street...flying to the next state or country could result in some freak accident and end my life.....those are not something i have control over...unless that is i become a recluse and even then..who knows.

What i do have control over is my sexual activitey. I choose to be monogamous to Thorns. There are sexual diseases out there that don't care if you have a condom on or not. I, for one want to be on this earth as long as i can to continue to see the smiling faces of my beloved children and grandchildren. It took me almost 40 years to be this happy, one night of a sexual escapade with someone that could take those things away from me is not worth it.

Everyone has their own take on this issue...as long as you can live with the decisions you make..............makes no difference to me. This is how i feel. To each their own.

Status: offline 		smilezz it is nice to see someone so happy and so involved with making sure nothing causes grief and pain due to an illness which can be so avoided. Master and myself are such a pair but we are also poly but do make sure we use protection and anyone we are involved with is tested and cleared of disease before hand. There is no casual play at all ever.
One can be safe and secure in a relationship yet still love and be involved with more then one. Myself have had but one other partner in our 5 year relationship for I as is Master very careful of who we are involved with. Safe and Secure in ones health is so important this day in age. Unfortunately we can not prevent illness or disease for there are so many other forms out there one may come in contact with. This day in age even the Flu could kill you.

I don't think that's Hep C you get from swimming.
THat's more likely Hep A or B, which you can get immunized for.

Hep C is very hard to catch. It's also incurable. It can live up to 21 days on an infected surface. It is not killed by bleach.

I don't think we all need to panic over diseases that have been around for a long time. Educating yourself, and using common (uncommon?) sense, honesty and self-control go a long way.
