Quick lesson for holly...

Wine (and port is a wine) can be mixed with only a few things, such as fruit juice to make Sangria, for instance.  Most people drink their wine straight.

Liqueurs (most of which are basically flavored vodka) can be mixed with dairy products (as well as other things).  Kahlua, Bailey's Irish Cream and the like are liqueurs.

thanks Cali. Truthfully i thought KMsAngel was talking about something like Baileys...

KMsAngel -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 5:37:09 AM)

actually i considered port along those lines too, holly. maybe it was the chocolate part of it that fooled me (or i'm just an uneducated git).

thanks cali. that explains the curdling effect, which i hadn't expected!

sirsholly -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 5:40:39 AM)

i have never heard of chocolate port. I mean..how do you make chocolate wine? Ferment a Hershey bar?

CalifChick -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 5:40:43 AM)

*hic* You're *hic* welcome.  [sm=buddies.gif]

The way I understand it, chocolate port does indeed have chocolate mixed with the wine.  There's no dairy in chocolate after all.

Chocolate port is a port that has a dark chocolate essence added to it after fermentation. Think of it as similar to chocolate covered raisins.....  *drools*  But much, much tastier.

sirsholly -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 6:01:07 AM)

now i want to try it...

KMsAngel -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 6:04:05 AM)

just don't mix it with milk, darlin! [:'(]

sirsholly -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 6:06:03 AM)

LadyRainfire -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 6:14:06 AM)

[;)]  I got started on port in Australia actually. In the Murray River valley, there are some of the top wineries and we used to go tasting on the weekends. Angel has some excellent wineries in the Barossa Valley, north of Adelaide herself. It's been a delicious experience since then....

LadyHibiscus -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 7:43:10 AM)

Well, being that a coach ticket to Portugal would set me back $1500, and a business class about $3500 (who wants to sit on a plane for 9 hours in coach???)... I'm thinking a domestic location is looking mighty tasty.

Cali

Well, I'm thinking that SunDude prolly wouldn't mind sailing over here, picking a crew by lottery, and sailing those lucky asses to Portugal and back. We all know what a kind soul he is. That would save a substantial amount of airfare. The rest could stow away, or talk themselves aboard tramp steamers( they're called that for a reason, yanno ) for the voyage. ( Real flesh beats a rubber sailors' torso on thos elong passages every time.). See ? Where there's a will there's a way.

Oh, wait, wait... we could do the whole pirate thing, hijack a yacht and, and...I wanna be the captain, though. We could do friggin in the riggin and daily crew floggings to keep up morale during the passage. Oh, yea...no port aboard, pussies, just rum, tyvm.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 8:52:30 AM)

Only if it's 151 rum.  [8D]

*GRINS* Let's wait till I pop the baby out... then we can all head down to Terra Verde's yacht club, and Hijack "The Donald's" yacht. Whooo boy is it nice! ( yes I have been on board it before. ) It is certainly large enough for all of us!

Gwyn,
always a girl with a plan.

KMsAngel -> RE: CJan and the Girls (8/2/2008 4:57:25 PM)

i'm with gwyn on that plan. i'll even fly to the states so ya don't have to putput it over here and back up north.
