ORIGINAL: LuckyAlbatross Had my first class today. Wow. Bikram Yoga consists of practicing in a room that's 100 degrees (which is the same as everywhere outside here the past month) and 40% humidity. I thought "OK that's tough, but I can do that, just nice yoga, keep centered and focused." HA! Sweat was dripping on my chest before we did our beginning breathing exercise. I get into it and it's like army drill exercises shouted out. Luckily there were many experienced persons so I followed their lead. Ultimately I probably sat out a quarter of the hour and a half class, but I got up to try each post at least once and only felt truly dizzy once. Many people had sweat dripping in a stream from their bodies after just the first half hour- but they were beautiful with spines like rubber bands. I also discovered the right side of my body is tons more flexible than my left. I survived, and was smiling a minute after class. I plan to go back- but I'm NOT a masochist! Congratulations, LA! I am impressed! I plan to start going to some "drop in" Hatha Yoga classes, very soon. I am too much of a wimp to attempt Bikram, you go girl!
