Anyone have  first or second-hand experience with male laser hair removal? I'm considering the procedure and am interested in recent or quasi-recent experience regarding men who have used the procedure performed in the "Speedo area"

How long did it take, how expensive, how effective, etc.

Thx!

I have a TG friend who is doing the laser of the body hair. It is working well, with a little regrowth. He didn't tell me the price  but i gather it isn't inexpensive.

price goes by session.  minimum 3 sessions.... amount of sessions depends on the person as each person is different in how they will react to treatment.

many people do both laser and electro.  electro is alot cheaper but can be painful.

Questions & Answers

What causes excess hair?
Excess hair may be caused by many factors including age, ethnicity, genetics, hormones, and medications.

What type of treatments are available?
At the Laser Studio we use lasers to permanently reduce hair. There are other permanent and temporary ways to remove hair. The temporary methods are waxing, shaving, depilatory crèmes, tweezing, and threading. The only other permanent solution is electrolysis. Electrolysis is more painful, more time consuming (often taking years), and generally more expensive than laser hair removal. It also has a lower success rate for hair removal. Electrolysis is however, the ONLY permanent choice for people with white, gray, and bleach blonde hair.

How does the laser work?
The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser energy. This energy then destroys the follicle without damaging the surrounding skin. This is achieved by the duration of the pulse of the laser and as well by the special cooling hand piece. All of the hair that is under the area of the hand piece is treated.

Is the treatment painful?
The sensation of pain varies for each individual. The procedure usually feels like a tiny rubber band snapped against the skin. The procedure can be made virtually pain free with the use of topical anesthetic crèmes such as EMLA. Most individuals find laser hair removal to be MUCH LESS painful than electrolysis or waxing.

How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments required varied for each individual. As the hair goes through different hair cycles the laser permanently treatsonly the hair that is in the active phase of growth. On average most people require from three to five treatments. You may require less or more treatments depending on your skin and hair type. The treatments are performed every 4-6 weeks for areas on the face and every three months on areas on the rest of the body.

What are the side effects?
Most patients will have no side effects. Most side effects are mild and transient. The physician will explain any possible side effects at the free initial physician consultation.

What is the cost?
The cost of laser hair removal is based on the area being treated. Generally the cost varies depending on the size of the area being treated. The cost ranges from $75 per treatment up to $700 per treatment.

neither electro nor laser is permanent...people might say they are...but trust me nothing is permanent.... and the color of hair is a factor in both.  hair always comes back even if its a couple years away.

one works with light hair one works with dark hair.  neither does both...regardless what anyone tells you.

all i did was went to laser studio's site and copy/paste their info.

Have done 10 sessions of laser, and lots of sessions of electrolysis.  Am basically totally smooth now.  Took a long time though.  Still needs to do some work every six months or so.  Cost wise the electo is $110 per hour, usually takes an hour now but there were lots of two hour sessions.

The laser was $350 per session for first five and then half of that.  The laser though covered face, under arms, genitals and butt and butt crack.  Pain no big thing, just like a rubber band snapping.

Laser reduced most hair 70-80%, electro is permanent and does eliminate it.  More might come back but very slowly.  I have blond hair now that the laser will not touch so electro is only option.  But it does work.

It does?  Interesting.  I had my last electrolysis session in January of 2002.  The hair hasn't "come back".

I am currently going under laser hair removal... not a guy though, so take this with a grain of salt I suppose.

I just did a bit of poking around on the internet after hearing some complaints about the company I am  using... there are LOTS of complaints about them, laser burns.. hair not going away... If I spent 2500 to be zapped over and over for no results.. I'm going to be mad- and will probably take them to small claims court.

And yes, they say it's perm, but I have gathered from other people that you will need maintenance zaps here and there to keep everything back.

2 treatments into the thing, and no results yet, other than the time it got smooth in places... making me look all patchy. Awkward.

from experience with many different places that supply electro treatments and laser. each place said electro only works with dark hair.... laser is more suited to light hair with much longer amounts of treatment from laser on dark hair.

coarse hair will be the biggest issue and take much longer to slow down.

i have already had 50 hours of electro on a spot on my chin which is less than an inch in size....still comes back.  after 3 or so months of an electro treatment.

i will never do laser because its a waste of $$...electro is better... and only $60 per hour.

each  company has different equipment.  some are on old technology which is not quite so good as new technology.  no place has ever said it was permanent hair removal.  they can be sued if they said that.  because these treatments do not work the same with every person.  it is a crap shoot.  if there is a place that says its permanent...find me a free lawyer and we'll make millions.

3-6 treatments of laser before anything is noticeable.  they should have told you this or had a pamphlet  for you to read before treatment that states this.

Blond hair and some gray now.  Genitals are as smooth as babys butt.  It will work, just have to work at it and invest some time and money.  Laser will reduce most hair, I had underarms zapped with laser and have not done electro there, hair is reduced about 80% or so.

Genitals have been lazered and lots of electro treatments.  We are almost there now.  A little work every three months or so for the last year, not much left to work on.  I imagine if I want to be completely smooth I will need some touchups every six months and who knows after that.

Will share pictures if you don't believe it!!!!

Er. Thanks for the pic offer.

A local outfit is offerting 5 sessions for "bikini area" treatment for 750.00. Is that in the ballpark? (yeah, pun intended.)

And stubbles can be like razors when they're on the shaft. It can really hurt! Yeeoooowwwwch! No thanks.

I know a man who had laser, and because he is also a bit of a pain-slut, he enjoyed the experience as he felt he was 'suffering some' for his Domme.

Either these places are run by idiots or they are outright lying to you.

Electrolysis works with all hair colors because the hair's color has absolutely nothing to do with the process.  Laser's effectiveness depends entirely upon the hair's color.  Dark hair has more melanin and the laser works by targeting that melanin and using the light energy absorbed by it to heat the hair which damages the follicle and root.  Since lighter colored hair has much smaller amounts of melanin, it does not absorb as much light energy and it causes significantly less or no damage.

If this is true, you need to fire your electrologist and find someone who knows what they are doing.

The fact that no one has gotten rich off of that idea should tell you something about the possible outcome of such a case.

At any rate, electrolysis is the only method approved by the FDA as a method for permanent hair removal.  In 1998 the FDA granted certain laser manufacturers the right to claim that their devices offer "permanent hair reduction" but to date, none have been allowed to claim permanent hair removal.  Laser technology has improved a lot in the last decade, but it still can't defy the laws of physics.

OK. As everyone else besides me knew, the service I was shopping for is called a "Brazillian." As in, yes we can do it but it will cost you a Brazillian dollars. ;-)

The cost is ~ 2700 for 9 initial treatments and "lifetime" follow up. This looks like a great deal, as long as the outfit stays in business to service my lifetime followup. But it's not quite 4 x what I was anticipating, and the house is going to need a roof in the fall.

I won't be having this done any time soon.
