this might be way off topic,

But for you needle play fans out there...

perhaps registering with the national bone marrow registry might be a good idea...


no, you wont get a thrill from it. but the Reg needs people that are ready to take a wide bore catheter to the hip...

and what better population to tap then  extremophiles?

Now that is a good idea.

I know people whose lives have either been saved and lost, depending of course on the availability of marrow. Saved is better.

Actually, bone bone marrow isn't always taken through the hip, it is often taken through blood now.

Over a course of a few days before the transfer you get a serum that ups your stem cells in the blood, then the blood is taken out, important bits removed, and everything put back in. Its alot less invasive than taking it through the hip.

you are, of course, right.


But to the vast majority of people...
donating bone marrow=giant hip needle.
I didnt want to short sell it.
