I'm going to "hijack" here, right in front of everybody and everything!!! Shade, that beautiful, brilliant, and wonderful woman, that I haven't seen posting for awhile by the way...[8\|], has this little thing she says that I just love. "Yanno". It is smooth, easy, gets the message across, and is sooooooo much sexier than "y'know". So I'm hijacking it. muah Shade, and Thank you! [;)] I was talking on the phone with a friend of mine, who is vanilla, as if I believe anyone really is. I don't. And yanno, he was making comment about how "easy" it would be to be a Mistress. We just sit around all day eating bon bons, getting our toenails done, our lingerie steamed and put on pretty satin hangers, our poodles groomed, and our claws sharpened. sigh Meanwhile, back in reality, it isn't quite like that. So I talked to him a little bit about TPE (total power exchange), and the "intimate" D/s relationship, from my personal perspective (of course!). After a long silence he said, with unmistakable respect, "That... was... so... incredibly arousing... from... the... inside... out!" With that deliberate pause between each word. That conversation got me to wondering what others think about all that. Okay..."others" being you. What do you think? [;)] Oh, and one more itty bitty thing. All i can say is the more i learn from reading about what the exchange of power is all about, the more my inner being cries out. From my own entry into this lifestyle to present day, i have watched myself transform as that understanding deepens. Yet, at the same time...i'm experiencing a sort of "tension in stasis" like a bow drawn to shoot an arrow but not yet released. i know for a fact that if and when the day comes and i find myself in service, my understanding as i know it will seem so inadequate to the task at hand. But this does not dissuade me. For me, the reward will be a life filled with meaning and purpose along with self-actualization. i wish to serve and choose to do so within this context. It's not about the lure of kink but rather the opportunity to express my inner self. i think the ultimate experience is to one day look in the mirror and see my inside on the outside and know that it was through relinquishing all power to my Owner that made it happen. anthrosub.

HA! I'm reminded of the 'just get a sub to do it' anthem. Oye. I get questions from vanillas along the lines of 'do you hate men?' 'Why would a man let you abuse him?' 'I'm just not wired that way' etc., ad nauseum. Usually it's pretty easy to show them another perspective. I've found if they are asking questions then, in general, they are open to new insight. And yeah, a lot of them go from 'eeeeeew' to 'hhhhmmmmm.'

I had it wrong. I thought the power exchange was one way. I thought if I had any problems just keep 'em to myself and don't bother Mistress. I was OK with that, although in a few years "Get it yourself!! Can you do anything? Just once!" would probably happen eventually if She really did nothing but ate bon-bons while I did her toe nails. It is nice to have a "gurlfriend" to talk with. (Hey it is a long ride From MA to TN. A "gurlfriend" is about all Lady Beckett can be. And a "gurlfriend" is greatly appreciated, BTW.) i guess i could start a new thread for what i want to say but it seems appropriate to keep it here. When i think of TPE, i always think there will be an initial period of time where things are kept low key until a certain degree of familiarity is reached...then the real exchange begins. As in any transition, there's a period where the old ways are shed while the ground is prepared for what's coming. One of my anthropology professors used a good term to describe this stage while discussing rites of initiation..."betwixt and between." i'm not sure but i would wager most subs (particularly males) have a very hard time getting through this period. Since relinquishing power leaves one vulnerable to the degree of surrender, it's understandable how this can be frightening, especially if the goal is extreme. i think many would be subs are turned away by their own inner fears as they approach the threshold no matter how alluring the idea may have been prior. anthrosub

Hello, From the opposite perspective, innocent angel, one of the aspects I get out of power exchange is the certain knowledge that another person is in my corner, has my back, and cares for me. I know she will pull her own weight in the relationship, and the dynamic of our relationship will allow us both to be more than we would be apart. I would hope that she could rest knowing that I there to care for her, to cuddle her when she needs to be cuddled, to provide her with the safety and comfort of my dominance and control. Another line from a Brad Pitt movie "She takes care of me, why wouldnt I take care of her?" (Meet Joe Black) really says it all. Often, when trying to explain the core of my relationships to those that would be distracted (shall we say) by the part about the leather, blood and chains, I say "It's my job to take care of her- and her job is to please me.".
