Master96 -> Redheads and pain.... (6/29/2008 1:59:10 AM)

I was surfing the net and I came across this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_hair#Medical_implications_of_the_red_hair_gene

What should I have to keep in mind when applying pain on a redhead girl?!

Thanks,

Edited to elaborate: What I mean with pain here is whips, spanking, nipple torture and things like that :)

We've had similar threads if you do a search. There is no hard and fast rule. We are still individuals. I'm a redhead and I can take astronomical amounts of pain....the next redhead you meet may only be able to take light pain. Some of us are also more sensitive to temperature play.

abcbsex -> RE: Redheads and pain.... (6/29/2008 6:59:06 AM)

I've recently dyed my hair red but I think my blonde is still affecting my brain... I read the post and thought, "ooo, I'm a redhead now, I'll have to be careful"

maybe it's just my inner redhead talking... I should have been born like that. lol too early in the morning, I'd say.

umm   -    maybe you should treat everyone as an individual and base your actions on their responses.

came4U -> RE: Redheads and pain.... (6/29/2008 7:48:10 AM)

I'm a redhead, had 4 natural deliveries with no painkillers, never accept anesthesia of any kind for even dental surg. (wisdom tooth removal, root canal etc).

I doubt very much it has anything to do with the genetics of my hair color.  I'm just a sucker for the pain.  What is a lil or a lot of pain...except it reminds you that you are alive.

GabrielleSlave -> RE: Redheads and pain.... (6/29/2008 7:51:14 AM)

i am a natural redhead.  i have had two natural births and am into pain in a big way.  My daughter is also a natural redhead, but the complete opposite of me.  Everyone is different and i find this redhead gene/pain tolerance thing laughable...

Hugs

Gabrielle

seeing is how i spent a few months in hospital with my chest wide open having to heal itself (after my 4th heart surgery that got infected age 14) with bandage being changed 3 times a day...

i can take any pain anyone can give me.

Thanks guys... you are helpful :) I guess every individual is different, that makes more sense.

*now I'm going to poke every redhead on the planet to make a statistics of the majority of them... whether they are more or less sensitive from other women to the pain*

Edited to change a past tense to a present one... keep feeding with your inputs guys and gals :)

If you just want to enjoy prodding redheads, just say so.

I'm pretty sure we enjoy or not enjoy pain as much as anyone else.

Now if you wanna play connect the dots with gals with freckles with pins and string...then maybe you would be a worry to the general population... LOL

For now, enjoy the redheads and enjoy giving em pain.

I'm a natural redhead and can take a pretty decent amount of pain before I need to switch things up.  Although dental work requires much more anesthesia than usual.  When this redhead gene study first came out, I took a copy of it to my dentist who couldn't believe that I needed so much juice to kill the nerve when he was working on me.  After that, he just gave me big doses of novacaine, without trying to use the least to get a numbing result.

Now, where does the line form for the "poking" test?  [;)]

came4U -> RE: Redheads and pain.... (6/29/2008 9:23:11 AM)

Daddysredhead..

Trust me, dentists want you all juiced-up on novacaine, not just for the money but to keep from being disrupted or even WHAKKED (your or him) with something sharp during a proceedure lol.

When I refuse the painkillers, my dentist is used to that, his brother who takes over for surgery when he is too over-booked is the one to get nervous and re-question my ability to tolerate it.

He was just astounded that I didn't flinch nor give him creepy eye-ball freakout messages.

Maybe I'm a lil sadist, but I kinda enjoyed him being more upset than I was LOL. [:D]

LadyRainfire -> RE: Redheads and pain.... (6/29/2008 11:20:14 AM)

Ok, ok, ok...... I saw "Redheads" and had to come running..... [:D]

I'm another redhead (well, DUH, the picture gives it away!) and I tolerate some pain incredibly well and other pain, FORGET ABOUT IT. Even as I type this, I'm home ill in pain (bad pain, not good pain) from an infection and swollen lymph nodes. I think each person has a different pain threshold and I've never been keen on the generalized statement "redheads don't feel pain like other people". Some do, some don't, so what? It's that way regardless of whatever hair colour you have. This reminds of when I had my first son and the nurses insisting that I hemorraghed simply because I was a redhead. Funny thing, I went on to have 2 more children and never once hemorraghed with them. [8|]  Another myth.... Redheads are bleeders.

Anyway..... if ya wanna have fun and poke redheads (or blondes, brunettes, or whatever!) go ahead and have fun. But I wouldn't have any preconceived notions about pain tolerance based on hair colour. [:D]

And I'm still working on my freckles hoping they'll become one big one making me look really tanned......

batshalom -> RE: Redheads and pain.... (6/29/2008 11:38:01 AM)

The article says the outcome was based on two studies, and that neither study was a replication of the other. Not enough to show causal effects. It also goes on to talk about gene pathology, different genes coding for the proteins to express red hair and tolerances to pain, effects of medications, etc., ... so ... redheads, it seems, respond pretty much like anyone else to anything: individually.

Yep. The most hardcore masochist that I know is a red head.

Gods don't you hate that?! My dentist gives me about 2x the number of shots required - otherwise I still feel it [:@]

LadyRainfire -> RE: Redheads and pain.... (6/30/2008 7:58:52 AM)

Y'all got me wondering now..... I have an incredibly high tolerance to pain meds and anasthesia but I was told it was family history though no one else has the tolerance. I can still be up and functioning on enough meds to knock out an elephant. Hmmmmm, kinda wish there were more studies. [sm=book.gif]

to keep such studies in perspective by accepting that the results don't apply to "all" and find out, specifically, what sort of tolerance to pain the particular redhead you are involved with experiences.

for this slave, certain aspects of reconstructive dental surgery required a stent, screwed into the tooth, directly tapping the nerve, which they injected every 20 minutes with a numbing solution that was "supposed to" work for four hours on anyone else.

for this slave, aspirin and the oxy's have the opposite effect---they cause pain, instead of relieve it.

for this slave, birthing babies was something she wanted to experience in the fullest, and chose not to have any aneasthetic at all.  it was the most gloriously painful experience, without orgasm, this slave has ever had.  it was also the first time she was referred to as a masochist.

lol rain..i'm just the opposite, i barely get a touch of anything and i'm a giggling goof.  when i have to have surgery or dental work and it requires anaesthesia, they start it up and 30 seconds later i'm giggling, i can't control it.

Rain...this sounds more like a thyroid issue

No, with my health issues this year and the cancer scare, my thyroid was checked several times and it's fine. Admittedly, the doctor didn't understand how I could handle the pain I was going through without pain meds but I left them for only when necessary. I also went through childbirth without any anasthesia. Told them to fuck off when they kept offering an epidural "because all the other women were having one". I know, sick of me..... [:D]
