Hi.

As you know I have been fixing up a house I bought a year ago. The porch enclosure has been an endless project, cost over runs, workers who dont show up, help that isnt.

Many of lifes lessons are in these window.

1. if you want it done, do it yourself.
2. it is easier said then done.

anyhow I awoke this morning as we had heavy thunderstorms all night.  Guess what?  It is still standing!

To the blond haired snob that is always snickering at my attempts, you caught my eye not as I was bent over on pulling weeds, but magnonously installing windows.  Windows that take 3 men to install!  I am almost there.  I took a fall- had my fist get stitches, and had alot of peer support online.

So how did I do it?   Well the permit runs out soon, I am against the clock. I cant wait for this one to get out of jail, that one to ease his OT at work. I cant wait for lovely weather and schedules.

I concluded that I would install it in pieces. How do you eat an elephant, in pieces.

So knowing how workmen bash another mans work- and they do- I did it. I refused to shell out $400 MORE per unit- I did it.

So now As the units settle I can wedge them in better and secure them better.

So to the parade of gawkers- who sneak up and see my azz while bent over pulling weeds. I looked you straight in the eye- during a huge 2008 triumph of getting that man sized window-- IN.

Hugs to all

Howdy.

edited based on your edit....congrats!!!!  There's always much more satisfaction when you can do a project yourself, not even considering the money you save.

Is it just a random victory lap? Those could be fun too.

Isn't a man looking at your ass while pulling weeds a good thing?

usually it is.  this guy tho refused to say hello 2x.  it must be a small town thing.  anyhow- the 3rd and 4th time- I aint going to beg someone to be civil.  I guess it is his prerogative to ignore....   anyhow- the whole thing seemed abut predatory if that makes sense.

Yeah,.. pahunkboy!

following feng shui there are competing energies here.  I guess I can do more if I apply myself.  renting for 16 years- I really did not have the gusto to improve a place.

I am trying to blur out the grime of the highway.  I think alot of people cant get what they have into a place [irregardless of the current foreclosure mess]
So make the best of things.  That means physical and smart ways to lessen the grime of the roadway.

I routinely use a lifting belt-as I do have injuries in the back- so coming from  THAT premise- it means alot.

Currently I have a ton of the 24 in by 24 in patio block- so I been trying to come up with a plan.

Oh there WILL be less weeds too.  instead of spending alot on weed killer- i scraped most the dirt of of the easment- there was like 1-3 inches of dirt that thru the ebb and flow settled there- and with it- weeds. otherwise there is a brick walk under it. :-)

family is set to visit next week- so I will have to do some cleaning.  They havent seen the place yet.

With an old house some projects are ones you do- while others are projects best left never started.

The sunroom needs to be put together before winter. I tore out a wall and what was I thinking,....lol

As my all of their lives small town neighbor told me 2 nights ago in the hot tub.
That my dear is when you moon them.

Hehe

yeah. :-)  I guess there is a way of being noticed that is flattering, and a way that is being, the trainwreck, or the piercing predatory way,  not that I want trouble- sorta like keep on walking as there aint nothing for you here- so scram.

How are the projects coming along Gloria?
